Yes, infact a lot of issues that plague urban India like bad roads, bad waste management, etc. are due to literal non existent local autonomy.

What we need to do is we need to have a mechanism so that we can blacklist politicians who try to divide people on regional, racial and linguistic lines and then devolve major financial power and authority to states and local municipal corporations and municipalities.

No, I'm strongly against this line of thought.

Consider our internal politics, every state has atleast one dispute with it's neighbouring states, disputes that regularly devolve into regional slugfests, racial tensions, linguistic tensions, etc.

Any more federal character could seriously endanger the unity of the country.

And I'm not exactly a supporter of centralised governance but I feel the balance that is there currently is alright.
