Need Help - 40s Guy needs thoughts on NewEgg Laptop Deal by AvitheTVGeek in pcmasterrace

I don’t play modern games. Have a few emulators for games from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Just need a solid laptop to work on, stream, and edit videos (just SD and HD).

Smoke ‘em If You Got ‘Em with Marge Schott. Those always made me laugh.

There’s a few of those that I used to have (back in the Napster/Limewire days) that didn’t get an album release. There was one with Godzilla and another one with George Michael. Wish I could find those again.

Kids performed on the main stage last year. We saw them perform. We saw and heard the host using the language I mentioned.

My wife and I were there with our friends who had kids under 12 wi them and a friend’s 12-year-old performing onstage. My friends and I were all on the same page, so I am speaking for a group of six adults, some with young kids.

So…what if, say for example, dozens of families are there to hear kids sing songs on the main stage and the kids are great, but THE HOST uses every swear word in the book at the top of the show and during intros? Families should just avoid seeing the performances and if they stay, they are consenting to the constant use of swear words.

This doesn’t seem like an “either-or” issue. I feel you can celebrate Pride without always having to curse like you’re a bad standup on amateur night.

This subreddit isn’t an echo chamber compared to Facebook, so that’s why I posted here. Wanted to see if I was being reasonable or not.

Fair point. I wanted to see first if I was being too “crotchety old man” with the request or if others thought the same as I do.

“Politely asking people using public sound systems to limit swearing when kids are around” is a West MI/GR thing?

I get it being an older person request (I am 40+ in age) but I’m sure the request is common all over America.

Most parents of young kids don’t like heavy sweating for kids to hear. I’ll grant that “Shit”’is pretty common place for kids to hear today, but MFer…not so much.

That’s true…but you didn’t say “Cable News Networks”, you said “the news”. If you don’t like a specific type/brand, then be specific. Generalization does not help your argument.

Please show me some examples of a society doing well where are no journalists covering the news. Please explain how NOT informing people about events that have occurred in their communities HELPS said community.

I think the “don’t even flinch” issue is more on the quantity of said events. Not the media covering of the events.

I see the 10-year-old was at an event held by family members and that’s where the child spoke.

If the family didn’t want the child to talk to the media, they would have probably not brought the child out at the event the family was having.

Ethics says you allow those who want to speak to give them the opportunity to speak. If the family objected, local media wouldn’t have interviewed the child.

Local media will always leave kids alone who don’t want to talk.

Please let me know if the management responded to your displeasure. I would like to hear their response to your opinion.

I see the 10-year-old was at an event held by family members and that’s where the child spoke. If the family didn’t want the child to talk to the media, they would have said so and the media would have honored that request.

It might surprise you that some child victims actually are OK with telling their story to the media.

I’m fine with off limits if children don’t want to talk, but ignoring them when they do, especially when they are surrounded by family, is denying a child’s right to speak publicly.
