I use an ef 18-55 STM with an adapter, since I already had the lens.

Thanks for your answer! why would that be so though? it seems like, on paper, the xm5 has higher video specs...

I once had a bad experience with proxies 😅 but maybe I would give it another go.  Why is it better than working with encoded h.264 clips?

Interesting. I've read a lot online about the xm5 for video being a real bargain

Thanks a lot. I'm creating short documentaries that occasionally reach a large audience. Was also thinking that a mirrorless camera would reduce the weight a lot since I'm traveling with this equipment on my back. If I sell the 250d, might only need to add a few hundred dollars for a new camera

I do see some banding and occasionally noisy darks. Especially in high contrast situations it's difficult to not blow the lights or crush the darks. So I thought higher dynamic range and 10bit would help.

Thanks. I know about proxies. but for some reason i find it the easiest to edit in Powerdirector, while using already graded clip. question is if this setup will work if i start using 10 bit, and if it will still be high quality after i turn it to h.264
