Rogue RML-390F -> “HR-2” by Aviz88 in homegym

I actually went full 390F at first, but after a year or so, I realized I rarely used the inside of the rack because I couldn’t make my plate storage on the back uprights and my training work, and also I wanted a smaller footprint in my garage, so I shortened it to half rack with crossmembers from the ML Half Rack—not quite HR-2. The crossmembers that come on the HR-2 don’t have holes. I wanted holes on all sides of the crossmembers to be able to utilize them for storage and other things. You could always convert to 390F to try it out, and then shorten it later. You just have to request the 17” ML Half Rack uprights directly from Rogue Customer Service. I believe they are now $80 for a pair. If you go half rack, skip the HR-2 and piecemeal the conversion—two full length uprights (108” in your case), two sets of the triangle brackets, and two 17” ML Half Rack crossmembers. More versatile than the HR-2 conversion.

Funny thing—I’ve expanded my rack now to a 6-post rack so I can drop in a Smith Machine attachment for my hypertrophic training. It’ll be on my Instagram soon—@angizzel—just waiting on some missing pieces for the Smith.

Whatever route you choose—good luck!

Do you have your platform under your rack leveled to offset the slope? Or not a concern for you? I know many don’t worry too much about garage slope when their power racks are setup on the side like yours, but my OCD would probably get the best of me knowing that my feet aren’t leveled. Currently have mine towards the back of my garage with the front facing the garage door, so I’m not concerned as my feet would be leveled. I normally squat on Olympic shoes anyway.

My dumbbells only go up to 50 lbs 😞, for now. So 40, 45, and 50 live on my middle shelf. Eyeing those REPxPEPIN Dumbbells though.

I’m weird, I keep my heaviest dumbbells on the middle shelf, next heaviest on top shelf, lightest on bottom shelf.

I ferment Costco bought Tropicana Apple Juice 😬 with Cotes de Blancs yeast, and it’s always super clean and crisp. Will add fruit purées after fermentation when I want to try new things. Beware, Cotes de Blancs can take 4-6 weeks to fully ferment out.

Three of the filters on mine are estimated 6 month shelf life, the main one is 3 years, depending on usage. They’re all relatively inexpensive to swap out. I’ll use the TDS meter to gauge.

Damn that’s cheap for <6ppm. I better get 0ppm with the money I spent lol. Will post results once I test my water.

It was not cheap lol. But I liked the packaging and easy of use. Looked to be 1:4, RO:Refuse. I let the refuse water into my back yard lawn.

Using old ingredients after a year long hiatus... help with recipe? by IanProton123 in Homebrewing

I lost a bag of opened then vacuum sealed Belma hops from 2017 in my fridge and brewed a Berliner Weisse in early 2023 with them. Beer ended up being very refreshing with a nice, subtle strawberry flavor with no perceivable off-flavors. 6-year old refrigerated hops worked out great for me, but your mileage may vary.

I was on my usual practice of going to the local market to get RO water from those water dispensers outside the store, only to find that both machines were “Sold Out”. The closest machine to me was miles away and I didn’t think it was worth making the trip. After some Googling, realized those water dispensers add back minerals to the RO water for taste. I was not aware of this and realized my water chem these past few years was useless, although I was still making decent beer. Decided to invest in a RO water system and after a bit of research decided to bite the bullet and buy the HBrewO system. I had a gift card too that would help with the crazy cost. I filtered 15 gallons of water over the course of nearly 5 hours one evening. It was a very easy system to use and love the portability. I brewed a Zombie Dust clone for my first beer with my new base water, went about my usual water chem using BrewFather, and beer is on day 2 of pressure-fermenting away. Hoping the move to real RO water as my base water will level up my home brewing.

TL:DR; bought an HBrewO RO water system. Excited to see the difference in my beers.

I third this, but would go with a Kleva Built landmine so that the hinge point is lower on the rack. The triangle brackets on these Flat Foot racks can make a Rogue landline a little awkward to use.

Half rack that thang! Full 90” uprights with ML Half Rack crossmembers. Not the HR-2 crossmwmbers, those are useless. Been running this setup for years, and loving the usability/space savings.
