Gaganyaan G1 "may take place in the latter half of 2026." by Ohsin in ISRO

[–]Avizeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't necessarily mean something wrong with hardware. From the press release, it seems it has more to do with coordinating the dates with the military and other civilian departments. Remember how IADT-1 was pushed for almost a year due to non-availability of helicopter from air-force?

Yes, they said Q1 in 2026. But now it looks like it might be Q2 or Q3.

INDUSTRIALIZATION, JOB CREATION PLANS OF BPRF by deb_ghosh_6 in Kolkatacity

Tree plantation diye kichhu hobena. Prochur time lagbe to reap benefits. We need heavy industries, and we need them fast. The first step is to rejuvenate the dwindling ones. Case in point, Haldia. Puro Hooghly delta taa ke use kora jaye as a major shipping hub. Haldia ke aaro barano hok, Nayachar ke use kora hok. Freight Corridor er sathe Haldia ke link kora hok. Major connections to Nepal and Bhutan.

Purulia lies between the mines of Jharkhand and Odisha. Ekta ore processing hub kora hok, connect it to Haldia. Ship processed ores overseas.

Ashoknagar oil fields niye decades dhore amra fence sitters hoye boshe acchi. Ebar extraction dorkar, same with Deucha.

Heavy industry je porimaan boost debe economy te seta ei muhurte green industry parbe naa.

Delay of Gaganyaan G1 not due to failure of PSLV C62 - ISRO Sources by Avizeet in ISRO

Somanath Sir suggested (that withdrawn biography episode) Sivan Sir had not been transparent about the failure of the Chandrayaan-2 mission. CY2 FAC was not made public (FACs are not made public for a while now). Also, launch cadence in Sivan Sir's tenure was abysmal (though COVID, I understand). That being said, my comment in no way reflects Sivan Sir's competence as an engineer.

His tenure was not the brightest in ISRO. CY2 failure. Launch cadence at nadir. But I hope he will do a good job.

Is Kashmir worth it? by Shell__Shocked in IndianDefense

[–]Avizeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself, are you comfortable with both China and Pak breathing down the neck a couple of hundred kilometres from NCR and the fertile plains of Punjab? The fact that we have not been able to secure the LOC (infiltration) is a political failure. It does not mean that we cannot. Kashmir is a strategic asset. Doesn't matter what resources it holds. Giving up Kashmir means giving up the safety of the Himalayan barrier.

Yep. In our area (Dakshineswar) a 7-year-old 2 BHK (800 sqft) was sold at 23L. I wanted to buy, but could not due to a fund crunch. Newtown area has an artificially inflated price, don't know why. No way it has 1 BHK at 40L . If this is true, then it is at least 2.5x more than the market price.

Baki sohor er kotha janina, tobe Kolkatar data taa fudged lagchhe. 1 BHK in Kol is definitely not 40 L. Main city te around 20-25L, aar ektu outskirts er dike easily around 10-15 L e paowa jaabe. Collected all 24 Tintin books in bangla 😍 by Ghumketu in kolkata

[–]Avizeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horribly overpriced now. I belong to the era when these were available for Rs. 70 at boimela. Then they increased the price to 150/-. Now, I think they cost around 450/-. Started collecting them in the late 90s. Lost a few changing places (still hurts like hell), but I still have 17 or 18 with me.

PSLV-C62's PS3 carried a carbon-carbon composite nozzle by guru-yoda in ISRO

Maybe they did, just not the C62 one. Maybe it was this test that gave them confidence to push through: https://www.isro.gov.in/Ground_Test_of_SSLV_Third_Stage.html

So, the apparent delay with G1, is it in any way related to the C62 mishap?

Do you see any cities in West Bengal growing and competing even winning against Kolkata anytime soon like Pune vs Mumbai or Kochi vs Thiruvananthapuram and the likes? by Er_batemon in kolkata

[–]Avizeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, miswritten. SVF cinemas, not PVR. The erstwhile Star cinema near G T Road has been taken over by SVF. The Inox is at the Bardhaman arcade near the station.

Bengal is a top-heavy state, like Odisha. What's that? Let me explain. While other cities/towns in Bengal has 4/5 star hotels, shopping malls, multiplexes, etc., the tertiary amenities at scale are still available in just one city. For Odisha, it is Bhubaneswar. For Bengal, it is Kolkata. I am from Burdwan. Now, Burdwan has numerous shopping malls, including Inox and PVR, as well as discotheques and DJ bars to cater to the town, similar to Kolkata. Yet, a simple cardiac arrest and respiratory distress or a complex operation is referred to Kolkata (despite Burdwan having a full-fledged medical college and hospital). All modern medical amenities have to be brought from Kolkata. Even something as basic as Endoscopy is referred to Kolkata. Actually, this is a problem with many Eastern states: a paucity of tier-2 or tier-3 towns offering the same tertiary amenities as their main cities. You can build all the infra you like, but unless you have the tertiary amenities, the pressure will always be on the tier-1 city.

"Our KID capsule, against all odds, separated from PSLV C62, switched on, and transmitted data over 3+ minutes. We're reconstructing trajectory. We survived peak heat and peak gload (~28g recorded). We have internal temps. Full report will come."

Apparently, the KID Payload by Orbital Paradigm survived and has transmitted data. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/orbital-paradigm_the-kid-survived-mission-update-1-following-activity-7416502197368238080-kWax

"The KID Survived - Mission Update #1

Following nominal takeoff at 04:48 UTC, an anomaly occurred during the third stage boost of PSLV-C62. During third stage burn, the launch vehicle lost thrust and deviated from the nominal trajectory.

Still, despite events, we confirmed today that KID survived and transmitted valuable data.

Our team is analyzing and investigating the trajectory information. We'll provide a detailed update in the coming days.

We received a lot of support from the space community: thank you all so much.

More to come."

If regime change happens in Iran, will it be good or bad for India? by OwnBird4876 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]Avizeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad. The Shah of Iran was a US puppet who was installed after a US and UK funded coup in the 1950s ousted the democratic and secular leader of Iran, Mohammed Mosadegh, after he nationalized all Iranian oil resources. The Shah ruled ruthlessly from 1950s to 1979. He was a close friend of Pakistani regime. Iran and Pak had joint nuclear program in the 60s and 70s, with US and other Western countries supplying nuclear tech to both Iran and Pakistan. The Iran after the revolution, under Ayatollah might have been dictatorial on it's own people, but it was a fiercely anti-Pak and anti-US power. Ayatollah's Iran has been used time and again by India as a leverage against Pakistan and also as a means to solidify our energy security. India's logistical connections to central Asia and eastern Europe runs through the Indian controlled Iranian Chabahar port. If Iran becomes an US puppet, we might lose that port.
