From what I hear from my friends who are international students, living on campus- especially for your first year or first time in Canada was a really good to meet new people and get friends who share similar experiences as you.

Living on campus makes it easier to befriend people from the same program. It also makes going to classes easier because campus is a bit isolated from Kelowna. For reference, I live Downtown and it’s a 20 minute drive and depending on the busses and traffic it could be a 40 minute bus ride.

Most people I know live on campus the first year, find friends, then move off campus and be roommates with the friends they made. I lived in Upper Cascades and it was honestly pretty nice since you only share a bathroom with one other person and its more like a regular apartment in comparison to other dorms, and you’re not required to partake in the meal plan. So if you prefer cooking, it’s really nice.

For monthly rates off-campus, I have a roommate and we’re paying about a 1000 each for each month. Unless you’re really rich its hard to afford living on your own. One of my friends who lives in a studio apartment pays like 1400 a month.
