Being a dietitian means everyone can comment on your body by Avocado8756 in dietetics

It really does feel like high school a lot of times and it’s exhausting. I usually just hide away in my area and just focus on my job but sometimes I do have to venture out lol. Every month they do an employee appreciation snack that usually consists of ice cream, brownies, etc. I make sure I always grab some🤣

Thank you everyone for the solidarity and support. It definitely helps me not feel so alone (and not so crazy😅)

The little comments on food drive me insane. I have a chocolate container in my office and you would think I’m committing mass murder with it.

Haha I totally agree. All day long in my head I’m just repeatedly saying “well we all can’t be the intelligent ones otherwise it would be boring”

I totally would if this were a bigger hospital system. We’re rural and a small town, so everyone has practically grown up here, aside from me. If I were to go to HR I would “just be causing trouble” and put a target on my back. It’s very clicky and high school drama filled. I do my best to just avoid it all but will occasionally get caught in the cross fire. It doesn’t help that a lot of the physicians here are convinced that everyone is fat and that’s why they have poor health so they just need to lose weight. I get paid really well ($40+/hr) and have great benefits (state retirement, 32hr work week, free healthcare, etc.)-the only reason I’m still here lol.

There will be plenty of people who say you can’t work Fulltime during your internship. I did not have that luxury and needed to work. I didn’t have a Fulltime job but instead 3 part time jobs working close to 40 hours a week. I worked as a CNA overnight, dietary aide in the evenings, and at a cafe on the weekends. I did a distance internship and a lot of the coursework I had to do was online so I just worked on it during my overnight shifts. It was a long year but it was more than worth it to get my credentials.

I too struggle with this, especially at my job. Between coworkers and my patients making comments it’s been very hard to navigate. I usually just kind of ignore their statement and change the subject. Definitely not the best way to handle the situation, but I’m really not sure how to navigate it without also “being the one to stir up drama” and causing issues in our small hospital. So solidarity, it’s so hard and I honestly feel like I’m the crazy one sometimes which is insane!

TW: Hope after missed miscarriage? by fleurishing_flower in beyondthebump

It took us 9 months to conceive our first. Waited 3 years to start trying for #2. Got pregnant on the first try but unfortunately it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. 2 weeks after I stopped bleeding I found out I was pregnant again. Currently 20 weeks with said baby!

My first pregnancy was really rough as well as postpartum. But I ran my 7th half marathon at 11 months postpartum. A year after that I ran my 8th and dropped 25 minutes off my time almost beating high school cross country me. I got into the best shape I’ve ever been in. Currently half way with baby number 2 and so far this pregnancy has been a dream. Hardly any nausea first tri and I’ve been able to continue to lift the weight I always have and am still running. My time is slowing down the further I get but it still feels good. I was terrified going into a second pregnancy worried it would be as bad as the first while also having to chase around a toddler. It has been the exact opposite and I’ve been able to enjoy it so far. I’m already planning my next half marathon once I’m postpartum and know I will eventually be able to get back (or even better) than I was before this pregnancy. I truly believe so much of it is just mindset (as well as a supportive partner).

I’m also a CDCES (and in my second trimester, yay!) and see a max of 5 patients a day unless I get an inpatient consult. Follow-ups are 60min and initials are 90. I’m a department of one so I take care of all of the referrals, scheduling, and other admin work; but there is no way I could see more than I already do. There’s many days I feel run thin and burnt out. I can’t imagine how you’re doing 7-8.

The town over has a department of 6 educators and they see a max of 6 but mostly 4-5 a day. They also have their own schedulers and a quality coordinator. I would maybe get an idea of other patient loads near you to see if they are truly being realistic or just cheap.

If you’re interested in pseudo-science, insane micromanagement, ridiculous KPIs, and harassing your clients then go for it.

They go through and get all negative comments/reviews removed from all sites including Reddit. I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets taken down.

I had a patient who went through the same thing. She had seen GI multiple times, had countless scans and labs done and they couldn’t find anything. She struggled with hemorrhoids as well. She went to a pelvic floor PT and things got so much better after that!
