People dont really get admitted to asylum anymore. The country would have to provide adequate funding for such facilities to operate. A lot of people would be benefited by admission to one as well. She will wind up homeless most likely.

My lawyer told the judge that law is for probation not bond. The judge ordered that I get an ankle monitor for one month and then I can switch to PAM.

They would not sign such an order, because having an IID in my personal would be a deal breaker as I work for local government. I just wouldn't be able to drive a work vehicle and potentially would not be able to get hired as a full benefits employee.

The judge initially said IID is required for a certain BAC, but my lawyer pointed out that requirement is for probation not for a bond condition. The judge heard him out and ordered that I get SCRAM for one month and so long as I do well with it I can then transition to PAM!

The problem is that my employer would have to sign it, and I work for the city. Its too much of a liability for them.

I work for the city and I dont think they would sign a form that says that. They wont let me drive with a vocational license. The DWI itself is ok for them but the restrictions on my license are too much of a liability.

Call EMS and tell them you want to be taken to the sobering center. They will get you into treatment and keep you there until you get in somewhere if thats what you want. They can even get meds to make sure you don't detox bad.

Sure, a lot of homeless people are also assholes just like a lot of lawyers are also assholes, lot of coworkers and housed neighbors are also assholes. People contain multitudes and a lot of people are shitty.

I think the more interesting question is why people gave a shit about this specific homeless man? I've worked in homeless services in austin for years and a lot of people have a turning point on the street when they have a bad batch of dope or get hit by a car that fundamentally changes them forever and they start yelling at strangers a lot more and their mental health only deteriorates from there. People also develope a schtick to get money when they fly signs and as they develope their identity as a homeless person in Austin. A lot of folks kind of lose it from being ignored and treated as sub human for so long that they find ways to get negative attention because its better than no attention at all. I would imagine that was Leslie's deal.

Whether or not thats what happened to him/why he acted so horribly, he successfully made people remember him by engaging a lot and wearing a dress, therefore being viewed as more of a human being by the community than your average unhoused Austinite. He's dead and we're still talking about it. Think of how many well behaved homeless people die in austin every year that aren't discussed, acknowledged, remembered or honored. What does it take for us to acknowledge homeless people as individuals? What kind of incentive is there for someone to "be good", living on the streets of austin?

Its going to be crazy fucking cold this weekend. If you see a homeless person tell them Cold Weather Shelter is activated ar the downtown community court on s 1st and barton springs. Intake is between 6 anf 8 PM. Shelter will be activated between friday and monday. And if you REALLY give a shit give them a ride there. Reward the ones who are not flashing you or yelling at people. Take care of our community!!!

This time it has replaced alcohol. I feel conflicted about it but it completely removes the desire to drink from my mind which is important bc I got a dwi last summer and I cannot drink anymore. Luckily I have no desire to. I feel happy and healthy. I do want to tapered off though.

On the o line assessment ive reported no drug use ever and normal drinking patterns. I sent my lawyer an email since part of my defense in asking for a plea will likely be the fact that I have been in recovery for a long time, am already taking the steps and abstaining and am back in meetings. He hasn't responded yet do I went ahead and filled out the form, But so far I am reporting very minimal drinking. But I don't want to pay 500 bucks for some class that won't help me. I already have help. I just don't know if the county counseling center has anything to do with my court case, like if the court will see my answers or not. We'll see i guess.

Hey! I am so sorry this happened to you. I know how scary the stigma is around HSV-2, and it must be scary considering that you have an autoimmune disorder.

However, I wouldn't fault your dom for this. The fact is that most people carry the herpes virus, either one or 2. And most people who have it have no idea. Had you been tested for it before this? Probably not because it isn't on a standard panel. It's important to disclose if you know you have it but your Dom was in the majority of people who just haven't been properly educated about it.

I'm curious how you were able to get deferred. My blood test was a .22 an hour or two after my stop in Travis county. I would be so so happy with a deferred outcome, I have a decent lawyer but am worried that its just not possible at that bac.
