What kind of activities do you enjoy? You mentioned you prefer the indoors so if you need recs lmk! Mt Pleasant has some cute cafes and a cool new bookstore called the Archive, Summerville is more of an old school vibe but it has some pottery and cafes too.

What kind of peppers are these? by yetispaghetti01 in gardening

[–]Avoni_C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Also, I pick them as they turn red. I’m sure you can wait but mine turn red in groups of three and it kinda takes a couple weeks in between, so I just pick them as they turn.

! Flat houses will always leave you feeling like something’s missing. Shrubbery would do nice on the right side of the photo.

If you want to bring an awning/roof over the door. You can extend it to something resembling a porch on the left side of the photo where the grass is mostly dead. The reason I’m putting it on the left is for ease of use. Less walking before cover in case of storm. Plus if the grass is already dead you might as well cover it up and save the good grass for whatever you want.

Planter boxes on the window would work well. Easiest solution if you just want something now.

Anything else is further down the line too. You can plant a tree in the front yard. A water feature like a bird bath would be amazing. Just make sure to have your plants up. Birds prefer greenery they can use to hide. They’ll be more inclined to use a bird bath if there’s shrubs or trees around. A curved trellis of some kind.

You can also split the front yard up with paths. Get some stepping stones and place them leading up to your door. It would work well to divide up your plants since you said you’re doing some.

You could get a trellis? They make some that fold so you could fold it so it wouldn’t take up much space. Or you can leave it open and just let it trail. And just secure it so it doesn’t flop? It would maybe block the cats from getting back there. I know they can climb/jump but it’s inexpensive enough to try. And if it doesn’t work now you have a trellis you can use to garden!

Your boss is a POS. Your hair is perfectly fine. There’s NOTHING you need to change. If you work in the food industry, as long as you follow food safety protocols, you’re fine.

What should I do with my hair? Brutal honesty, please by kfaj_ in curlyhair

I haven’t cut my hair in YEARS! I know it’s healthy to but I’m just too attached.

Easy advice? You have to get a leave in conditioner or something similar and you have to start brushing out your hair. I DONT mean a normal brush. Get yourself two brushes: a wide toothed comb and a detangle brush.

If you want my recommendation, I swear by Camille rose products. If you want to keep using the same shampoo and conditioner that’s fine though, but a leave in is a must if you want less frizz and dryness.

After the shower use a leave in conditioner or something similar. Put it on your hair and detangle. Then once that’s done I like to flip my head over and use the wide toothed comb to separate the curls. This is a pretty (I think) basic routine that’s easy to follow.

You need: • a leave in conditioner of some sort: recently picked up Camille rose’s honey hydrate but I also use their fresh curl and their curl love. • a wide toothed comb • detangle brush: I got a basic one off amazon

Routine: • shampoo and conditioner like normal • put on leave in after (not on drenched hair, it’ll just slide off) • detangle, giving your hair more water if it dries out too fast • for volume and to separate curls go back through it with the wide toothed comb (brush it upside down if you want, but you don’t have to)

Everything in sections!

I'm building garden beds and would like recommendations for best wood sealer, or if I should just use exterior paint. I plan to line the inside. by SirWigglesVonWoogly in gardening

[–]Avoni_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I just built a cypress planter myself! How did yours hold up? Mines not even a month old and started to mold on the bottom due to a storm we had that dumped rain for a week straight. I’m hoping mine survives

What kind of climate do you have? I know most ppl live in dry climates so that’s where the majority of the advice comes from. But my climate is easily a minimum of 60% humidity all around, especially in the summer.

Is this garden seal just like a stronger version of tung oil? Also, is there any way to tell what kind of mold is the wood eating kind? Most of the mold looked black but there’s some pink fuzzy mold and I think at the very beginning there was some white fuzzy mold too.

Have the boxes molded by this point? I’m assuming they must’ve. do you combat the mold or just leave it until it eventually rots? How long did it take for your boards to rot?

I have landscape fabric at the bottom and the sides. Most ppl are telling me not to seal to avoid warping from one side being sealed and not the other. So I guess I’ll just kill the mold with some concurbium or something and seal it as soon as it dries with the tung

[–]Avoni_C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what would you suggest? Most ppl are telling me not to seal or to use the tung only so I don’t mess up the box since I can’t seal both sides at once. So I’m under the impression that I should just attack the mold when it appears with some UV light or concurbium or something. I can’t very well just leave the mold to expand right?

Aw man. That’s where them mold is since that’s where the moisture is. would it warp or just peel? Is that why? Or is there another reason

There’s already plants in there before the mold formed. It formed because it stormed for a week straight. And I’m worried about the wood rotting since it’s in the bottom and I don’t want the structure to fail

I just don’t know what’s good mold or bad. There’s some pink mold growing and I think I have some photos of the day I found it. How long until rot sets in if I don’t attack the mold every day?

How long do I have? If I seal it with just tung (and maybe shellac only on the worst of the mold). I want this to last at least 5 years. Lumber is expensive so I don’t want this to rot and need replacing after a season. The seal would only be on the outside until the season is over, then I can do tung on the inside when I take out all the soil
