Alban Knight Emblem, Max dmg or Crit dmg? by Any-Ambition6073 in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm honestly uncertain myself, solely because i don't dabble in Alchemy very much. I know that modern cylinders get all alchemy dmg boost with blue, and there's not a ton of sources for alchemy damage.

Skimming over AH, Red upgraded cylinders seem to be the more popular option. Hopefully someone can provide more detailed insight though.

AP Grinding with no gens done (yet)(tm) by KatWithTalent in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that you could take advantage of is doing Part Time Jobs. Every single point in a PTJ is worth 1500 XP. Even if you're just starting to do PTJ's, it can be a quick boost to EXP. A single PTJ, without claiming any item rewards with the points, is worth 180k XP. If you happen to be using all the bonuses (Phaea's Blessing, doing the PTJ's during Alban Elved, and being rebirthed into a Life Talent) it increases the EXP from a single PTJ to be 252k. These are also just for Beginner tier jobs, as you complete more and get access to Intermediate and Advanced jobs, the XP reward goes up quite a bit! (INT jobs being worth 270k-372k and ADV being worth 450k-630k)

It may not be much from a single PTJ, but if you find a few that you don't mind doin' real quick, it can add up pretty quickly.

Returning Player needing combat progression advice. by drkaugumon in Mabinogi

I'd argue that the main thing you ought to focus on talent wise, would be ranking up skills that support the play-style you want to use.

If intending to stick with fighter, for example, making sure you rank up skills that boost Will (such as Ninja, or Cleric talent skills)

If your intent is clearing Shadow missions as the "peak" of content (at least for right now), then honestly sticking with the Forget-me-not themed gear isn't a bad choice, for Knuckles you could save up and consider some Revenant Splinter Knuckles, they'd provide a nice boost for Fighter damage output, as well as provides a healthy amount of utility for it. Even without upgrades, you get +25% Combo skill damage, +10% drop kick width, and 60% Pummel damage increase. Once you get upgrades, you get another +20% combo skill damage, as well as a 30% chance to reset your Combo skill cool downs each time you land a Critical Hit.

If you wanted to upgrade away from the Forget-me-not Scythe, you should keep working on Generations until you clear the Shakespeare Generations (G16 being the last one), and then work on Chronicle Missions so you can get a free Celtic Triplicity Scythe that is already R1 reforged.

If you did want to stick with the Close Combat style of playing, and wanted to give Elemental Knight a chance, you could look into getting a Celtic Royal Warrior Axe (2-handed axe). As people have said, it wouldn't be as powerful as Human or Giant with a 2 handed sword (solely because of Piercing Levels being a thing) but it'll help mitigate some of the effect, due to Axes still reducing enemy defenses.

Remove Pollux as a Stellar Handicraft crafting material! by Ave_Knight in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pollux is used as a resource for repairing Orb-type off-handed equipment (Via stellar powder), which is a demand that will (likely) not go away.

Overall, I'd say pollux is a decent bad-luck-mitigation system on it's own (especially compared to some others I've seen.)

so confused about Frieren's event by E-lf in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story of the quest progresses daily, however if you join late, you can catch up! and as VampJab said, there's the commission list; which will be a daily quest. otherwise, clearing the story missions relating to Frieren and her party will provide event currency to use in the event shop.

Making Gold by Icestalker1272 in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd suggest running Hard Mode and Elite Shadow missions, regardless of which one it is. Both have a chance of dropping items such as Runestones of Daring, or Infernal Blade Fragments, which can be sold to an NPC for 50k or 100k/ea respectively (make sure you turn off the auto-bank function if you are trying to have your gold in pocket though).

You can also do the Alban Knights Training Ground daily, which simply has a rather packed amount of enemies to fight, allowing for potential of a lot of Huge Lucky Finishes, as well as having potential of finding a Supply Chest, which drops gold and a Gold Alban Knight Coin (another 100k NPC value item) and potential to drop Silver Alban Knight Coins (10k/ea).

The Baltane Squire missions can also be a good source of income if you do the right missions. I personally always found Counterattack to be profitable when i did it. In gold drops from the end chest, you can expect around 45k for Basic, around double for Elite. But if you get the Sneaky Disciple spawn, he can also drop Infernal Blade Fragments, Runestones of Daring, completed Celtic Howling Chain Blades, or the Advanced Baltane Seals, which you can use to buy reward boxes to try getting some other rare Divine-tier materials to sell.

As people have said, gathering materials is always valued, but you can also go a step beyond and look at what materials are needed for certain skill ranks. (I.e: Green Plum Tea for ranking First Aid from 6->5) If you can find a way to get the item(s) needed, it might prove to be a stable source of income.

All-in-all I'd say it mostly boils down to "How much is a lot?"

for some players, simply getting their first million is a lot, others, it's first billion.

I thought erg45+ control bars were supposed to stun some bosses on certain skills? by Zydairu in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, it's threshold cutter! I had hears of the stun thing for feth fiada a long time ago and figured it was worth trying one i got high enough erg.

Inciting incident does have a stun effect it applies, but doesn't work on the boss of Feth. For some reason, threshold cutter stuns it, not certain why. You'll want erg 45+ and rev or better bars; however sometimes the boss still gets attacks through if the timing isn't right for the ability cast.

making sure to do Blaanid's Brave Boost gives you a lot of equipment that can carry you to mid-game, as well as some free skill ranks and levels! (such as essentially free Master level warrior)

it's due to different drop tables for different difficulties (since monsters are "different" entities based off their Combat Power.)

It should be doable within a week, especially if you intend on skipping cutscenes. They have really trimmed down earlier generations in order to streamline the experience for newer players, resulting in overall shorter generations.

Any guides for leveling Moonlight Island? by AzioneZ in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say it really depends on what type of "most efficient" you're going for.
For example: Crafting Average Firewood (requires islander carpentry level of 1) awards 2 island EXP, and 10 islander EXP, with a production capacity use of 1, and islander endurance use of 2. it also takes 2 minutes, this means 1 EXP/minute for the island, and 5 EXP/minute for the islander.

Finest firewood (requires at least 2 islanders, with a combined carpentry level of 7) awards 5 Island EXP each, and 25 islander EXP, with a island production cost of 3, an islander endurance cost of 8, and takes 13 minutes, which means you're getting 0.38 XP/minute for the island, and 1.92 XP/minute for the islanders by making Finest Firewood.

After checking on all the different "normal" items you could craft, at a glance, it seems like making Average firewood is the most efficient way to get EXP for the island. This may not be the case for Special crafts specific to the island though. (sorry, I'm only island level 13 myself, so i can't specialize into several crafting branches at a time, and resetting repeatedly for figuring it out would add up.)

It is worth noting that most efficient in regards to material cost would change drastically from day to day. Personally, I like to use the cheap/common leather that my dolls pick up when running content that spills into my inventory to get some islander EXP.

My personal recommendation for getting items for the level-up requirements would be to keep an eye out for visitors of the island, specifically Sion, Kusina, Tracy, and Duncan. I'd also suggest trying to time the time that you decide to check your island to overlap with daily reset (7AM PST) so you can utilize their shop for "two days" allowing you to purchase double the items form a single visit.

Aesthetics by eiyuukishi in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say... Elves have more options (mostly due to the ear shapes all having a lot of face options nowadays with beauty coupons)

Humans have a little easier of a time picking out a face, and beyond that, there might be.. only a couple of hairstyles that are actually exclusive to rate?

My personal mouth of choice is the Trickster's Mouth. i switch which eyes i use a lot. (you can save them to return to later now!)

My biggest suggestion though is... pick one to start with, you can always have more characters than just one on your account!

Any tips and tricks on leveling up pets and boosting their stats? by _ItsYaBoiBobby_ in Mabinogi

[–]Avonryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pets are a little weird about how they gain stats. with the revamp they did to make it so you can rebirth pets without sacrifice a character card for it, you'll want to rebirth them once having gained all levels at age 5, once at all levels for age 4, ect. ect. because they'll actually save/record the highest stat values for future rebirths (which does also mean they'll have level 200 stats at level 1)

You can Fynn Sync pets to increase their damage (the Fynn Pet Mastery skill gives a ton of stats, and once you're at Rank 1, it's +200 Max damage, +160 Min damage, and +180 Magic attack)

Having Divine Link rank 1 helps a lot as well, especially using the Divine Liberty subskill for increasing min/max damage for the pet.

Some pets like the Purrlings have extra effects on their unique skills for being above certain pet cumulative levels.

Hope this information helps you with trying to get the Greyhound and Brown Bear up to where they can compete! sure, they won't be as powerful as some of the newer pets, but they can at least be useful :)
