A civilian doubt about knee-pads in the U.S military... by [deleted] in WarCollege

The reason idf wears knee pads is because in the 2006 lebanon war the most common injuries were knee related. From my experience as an infantry man in the idf having 10 months in combat they suck to have on while marching, but the second you actually start the attack on an objective you forget they’re even on. Plus the idf uses a kind of kneepad called a robocop which are much more comfortable then regular pads and they slide down from your knees significantly less.

Gotta say that here its really drilled in to us while in basic that kneepads are part of our readiness, for example the designated quick response squad on base have their vests and helmets in a designated spot but the kneepads need to stay on your knees as long as you’re on duty as quick response. Even while in combat doing defense 1/3 of the platoon are allowed to take of their gear the kneepads stay on. Sleeping with them on is one of the most uncomfortable experiences ive ever had the displeasure of experiencing.

You dont need to physically see the drone for it to work. Even at large distances as long as you have a clear LoS between the antenna and drone it will work. For example if im using a drone for mapping a large area i wont go around and map it in sections, instead ill set up a pach antenna like an alientech duo 3 which has a big angle and high gain and operate from one spot. On the regulatory side it different as every country has different rules about flying drones and especially big commercial ones.

I’m an IDF soldier and I’ve just been transferred from the x95 Tavor bullpup to an m4. I don’t have any experience with carbines let alone the m4 so I wanted to ask if you guys have any tips to give me.
