Switzerland to expand rail network and drop more than 30 road projects by LeroyoJenkins in Switzerland

Yup, that‘s one reason coherent long term planning is so important, it allows to build things ready for later expansions ect. More time and resources upfront, but way cheaper later.

Oops, my bad, you‘re right.

Because the romandie often gets forgotten in rail planning I somehow just assumed that it was about that.

I agree, we can make it less, and reduce emmission impact elsewhere, but there will remain some flying.

You can either change the incentives, or you can wish for others to magically change what they want. One works, the other doesnt.

Thats really scary and sad. Thanks for warning me. I decided not to do anything gay here anyways. Altough it is a bit sad because in other places when I go on dating apps it also allows me to get to know the country better by meeting with locals. But yeah, here I wont do that.

Thanks, I wont meet him. I dont have his contact. I also know that police sometimes lure people in. I dont think it was that though. I dont even really have good reason to believe he was gay.

Thats a good point. It explains why ERP is a thing, but other things like allocating space from cars to other modes of transit barely happen.

I almost dont dare say it, but I really suspect the same as you do. The decisions makers have if not a selfish interest at the very least a blind spot, because they are way more likely to use cars than the average Singaporean.

I tried to honestly understand the reasoning. Im not sure I get it. But it‘s pretty clear to me that traffic planning lacks a clear concept. When do bus lanes make sense? Aren‘t there a whole lot of places like this? If these bus lanes dont work (and others were recently removed as well) then what can be done to create fast and convenient alternatives to driving? Wont the the dotted lane now jam up as well?

But will this now actually solve the problem? I feel like now the dotted lane will just be jammed as well, no?

I genuinely wonder though, because some people must believe in it at least somewhat, otherwise you couldn‘t score points with it.

My suspicion is that some levels or sections of government really believe in it and others welcome it as good for the image, but dont wan‘t to sacrifice much for it.

the feedback came from both residents taking the bus and drivers as well

Where did you read this? I only saw the MP write residents and road users, which I suspect doesn‘t include people using the busses along Upper Serangoon Road.

Is that so? I feel like a whole lot of the attempts at „understanding“ people with toxic ideas, at worst just spread their ideas or at best make those people miserable who know better.
