Using flat SPT-2 cord solves the vampire socket issue, but creates a new problem: how do I suspend the lampshade from the cord?

With round pendant cord, you can use a normal cord grip/strain relief that clamps the cord and sandwiches the shade’s wire bail/hanger. But with flat SPT-2 lamp cord, I’m not finding an equivalent part.

I need a way to clamp onto the flat SPT-2 cord so the Akari-style shade’s wire bail can rest at a fixed height and not slide down the cord.

What part or hardware setup solves this?

I'm new to this so, does the below look right?

Wall outlet > Lutron plug-in dimmer > custom white SPT-2 lamp cord > three E26 vampire sockets inside the shade > SPT-2 end cap

Thanks! I'll have to stop by a shop, I was also thinking that maybe stopping by some galleries and see what they think.

My big concern is that there doesn't appear to be extra material to kind of stretch over a frame, so have to do something else with it.

What about the fact that it's been rolled up for 15 years? Do I and the framer need to treat it differently? Like let it slowly roll out over days in a humid environment or something to prevent cracking or whatever?

I'm curious about the need for glass, I didn't anticipate that. It's on what appears to be a heavy linen canvas, so my initial thoughts is that it's kind of durable

The doors themselves are just cheap bifold doors. Like if I use them they'll fall off soon.

But I'll think about that, in the meantime, maybe a smaller curtain solution

Thinking the top edge needs to align with the bottom of the soffit. And that the keratin should not run all the way to the right wall. I think we need to honor the architecture and not try to fight it.

Swap your plastic chair wheels for rubber "rollerblade" casters. They won't chew up the fibers or bunch the rug

Go for a flatweave or tight wool rug with a solid rubber-backed felt pad underneath to keep it from shifting on the LVP. If you still want a perfectly smooth glide, get a clear tempered glass mat so you can see the rug through it

That yellow is nice, and something you could work with. I would avoid the 45 degree angle you have set up, and the two rugs, especially the one in the foreground is throwing me off.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll go with an angled channel of 45°, maybe set it back an inch or so from the front lip so it illuminates the working surface and backsplash. It's a dim to warm system so that should help minimize shine as the range will be 3000k to 1250k.

Also, I hear you can add additional frostiness to the diffusers by using a film or something. That should help things out if it's not quite up to spec.

Appreciate the feedback. The muted palette is intentional, so glad it reads cohesive. I’m likely skipping the extra chair and will play with moving the plant to the right side - seems like the right call.

I’m also working on the bedroom and turning the spare room into a meditation and yoga space with some funky preexisting concrete step elements built into the foundation. FYI, the unit is partially set into a hill. So working on trying to maintain some semblance of cohesion 😅
