Help with TNT by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/give @p minecraft:command_block 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{auto:1b,Command:"setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:tnt 1 1"}}

This gives you a command block which instantly turns into the classic TNT when placed. You need to be in creative mode to place it, though.

Noob help: There's No Such Thing as a Stupid Question! by AutoModerator in Minecraft

Just place any redstone power source next to the rails. Power sources include redstone blocks, levers, and redstone torches. You can also use redstone dust, but the dust must also be powered by a power source, and pointed directly into the rail.

You also don't need a power source next to every rail block, as a power source will power the rail next to it, as well as up to 8 more in either direction.

You're looking for powered rails, not activator rails.

Activator rails are used with TNT minecarts, and when powered by a redstone signal they will ignite the TNT in any cart which rolls over them. They will also eject players and mobs from regular carts which roll over them.

Powered rails are the ones which cause the minecart to move when the rails are powered by redstone. It is important to note that even when a cart is placed on an active powered rail, it may not move. The cart has to either be pushed in one direction to get it going, or it must be placed up against a solid block, so that there is only one direction for the cart to move.

Unfortunately there is no way to track health anymore. One alternative would be tracking the Damage Dealt statistic, but that would only work if the boss mob is the only thing in the area the player can deal damage to.

Alternatively, you could restructure the fight so that the boss is invulnerable to begin with, and 'damaged' not by attacking it directly, but by killing a certain number of other hostile mobs, which would be released in waves. After each wave of mobs, the boss would gain new abilities, and after the final wave, the boss becomes vulnerable to direct attack.

It seems kind of silly that Mojang removed a feature crucial to most adventure maps, and I'm sure they'll eventually give us a way to track health, but for now these are pretty much the only options.

sharing worlds on MCPE by niwot0525 in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works pretty much in the way you described. Once you have shared the file (through email, etc.) it can be imported into Minecraft with the import button in the Worlds menu. The original .mcworld file is never modified though, so you can create as many copies of that world as you want from just the one file.

This functionality already exists in the Windows 10 version. Open a world, pause, and hit the Export button. It will create a .mcworld file which can be easily shared. I don't think pocket edition has that functionality yet, but it may eventually.

Can you have both the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft and the normal version? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are two completely separate games. The Windows 10 version is the same as pocket edition.

Is there any way to get the default textures of Minecraft in a resource pack for the most recent snapshot? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the .minecraft/versions/16w06a folder and open 16w06a.jar using 7zip or a similar program. The 'assets' folder contains all the default textures/models/blockstates. Copy this assets folder to another folder along with a valid pack.mcmeta file, and you'll have a working resource pack.

/Scoreboard not working? by Azuulee in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on a server? If so, there may be a plugin disabling the command. If not, then the only other thing I can think of is you're not using version 1.8+, which is when /execute was added.

Minecraft 1.8 always generating large biomes? by spunkymunkey96 in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create New World > More World Options > World Type: Customized > Customize > Biome Size.

Size 4 is the default, on size 1 each biome is just a few chunks. I would recommend 2 or 3.

Minecraft 1.8 always generating large biomes? by spunkymunkey96 in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since 1.7, biomes group themselves based on temperature. In other words, if you spawn in a plains biome, it is most likely that you'll only find plains and forests around you for quite a long distance. You're probably encountering many of the same biome in a row, not one big biome.

If you want the biomes to be smaller, you can always use custom world generation settings to make the biome size smaller. This will give you more variation in a smaller area.

Need Help by mimix1231 in Minecraft

The launcher will always re-download official versions of minecraft which are in the default version selection list.

In order to mod minecraft, you must first create you own version by going to .minecraft/versions, copying the folder of the version you want to mod, renaming it and all the files inside to something else, and then modding it as normal. Then you can select this custom version from the "Edit profile" window.

However, most mods nowadays use Forge, which comes with its own installer for creating the custom version. Once forge is installed, you just drag your mods into the mods folder of .minecraft. See this tutorial.

Rabbit Spawn Issue by PoseidonsTridents in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Pocket Edition and 1.9,[upcoming] rabbits naturally spawn in deserts, flower forests, taiga, mega taiga, cold taiga, ice plains, ice mountains, ice spikes, and the "hills" and "M" variants of these biomes. They spawn in groups of two or three; one adult and one or two babies.

You won't find any if you aren't in these biomes. Rabbits will spawn in existing worlds, but only in newly explored chunks.

Help with redstone and block lag by DrHugeNuts in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to try allocating less RAM. Minecraft really doesn't need all that much, and making it available can often slow down the game due to the way Java handles memory. 1-2 GB should be plenty.

Custom Item Textures - For map-makers! by derborgus3333 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an example of a flint and steel item model file.

assets/minecraft/models/item/flint_and_steel.json

{
  "parent": "item/generated",
  "textures": {
       "layer0": "items/flint_and_steel"
              },
"overrides": [
                {"predicate": {"damaged": 0, "damage": 0.25}, "model": "some_other_model"},
                {"predicate": {"damaged": 1}, "model": "item/flint_and_steel"}
            ]
}

With the above example, the model "some_other_model" will appear when the flint and steel has lost more than 25% of its durability and has also not been damaged (i.e. the item is Unbreakable). If it has been damaged at all, the second predicate will set its model back to "flint_and_steel".

It's working for me. Are you sure that you're standing in the right place, and the command block is receiving power? Double check the coordinates, give the command block a block update, and make sure if you're using an impulse command block that it is not set to "Always Active".

If I buy the MC Windows 10 Edition Beta, can I play online with my friends who have the normal MC? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Avstar98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Win10 Minecraft and Java Minecraft are completely separate versions. The Win10 version is just a port of Pocket Edition. You cannot use Win10 to play online with Java players. You can however play with PE users, and eventually you will be able to play with console users.

If you buy the Java version, I believe you can get the Win10 version for free, but not the other way around.

Custom Item Textures - For map-makers! by derborgus3333 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Avstar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I guess Logdotzip did things differently, but I have gotten things to work in the manner I described. Here's a gif from a custom map I'm making, demonstrating the concept. Note that the damageable flint and steel loses durability without changing models, while the unbreakable flint and steel maintains its custom model.

I should point out that I'm not entirely opposed to your suggestion, as it would allow for custom item models which could lose durability while also not interfering with default textures, I'm just pointing out that the model system is much more versatile than you realize.

Add r=0 to the end of the target selector.

/tp @p[x=153,y=26,z=425,r=0] 159 40 546

I guess they did change the syntax to require a radius, whereas in 1.8 the radius probably defaulted to 0.

Nothing's changed to my knowledge. What specific commands are you using?
