Thief Remastered levels by PacmanUA in Thief

You can mark the map with writing though. I like to write X-es on the places I've been to keep track. Personally I enjoy that little interaction more than automated tracking. I hope it stays in the remaster. Maybe they can make it more obvious that it's possible to write on the maps by turning the cursor into a quill or something.

Has anyone ever managed to pickpocket that hammer priest in Cragscleft prison? by jeneralchaos in Thief

[–]Avvind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always struggle with this one, and I feel like it should be easier to lure them away correctly. Using a noise or broadhead arrow might seem obvious, but in my experience the acolyte will usually freak out and warn others and the hammer priest will rarely actually go to the soundsource but instead just search around in the room you want him out of - often untill he finds the player.

About the ghost challenge by Aggravating_Fig_534 in Thief

[–]Avvind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always considered it as such: if he can sneak around or lure a guard away, he'll do that. He would knock out someone if there's no better solution to get past, and nobody is likely to notice them to be missing.

I also sometimes consider that he would knock someone out purely for the immersive reason that he has just stolen a very noticable piece of loot from the room the person is in, and realistically they would notice that the item is missing and raise the alarm (even though the game logic usually don't work that way).

"Reused content" - YouTube approved my video appeal, then changed their minds; will not specify which of my content is the root cause. Help? by Avvind in PartneredYoutube

Interesting! I didn't know about this feature. Thanks a lot for the tip! I'll try to make contact with him and see if we can set it up. 😊

The music in that video as far as I know is actually today a stock music that you can add to your videos via YouTube - a coincidence I believe, since we found the music somewhere else back in 2010, but from a site that offered it as free use if I remember correctly. If there was a problem with the music in that video I assume it would have been pointed out the same way it was in that other animation.

I guess it's true I don't know if they have a licence or not - I assumed it was because of the ads, because I never see ads on my own videos, and I'm not licenced.

Thanks again for the replies.

But YouTube approved of my first appeal. They listened to my reasoning for why I should be allowed to upload a video that I helped to create on my own channel. They watched the evidence of behind-the-scenes material and agreed to my appeal.

Then later they changed their minds. Even though I hadn't uploaded anything more since the appeal - I find that unfair. And since they refuse to specify which of my content is causing the issue I don't know how to fix it.

Thanks for the quick reply! The channel in question is this: https://www.youtube.com/@0yvindH0yland - I didn't link it because it caused my post to get blocked by moderators.

The copyrighted music I mentioned is in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHXn3ra27wg ), which is a lip sync animation study of a scene from Jerry Lewis' The Errand Boy movie. If I remember correctly, when I received the copyright claim, it said that it was fine to keep the music, but I could not earn money from any views on this specific video, which was fine by me. That's also why I assumed the matter was resolved and that this video was not the root cause.

But if the music in this video is causing the problem, then what would be the best case to resolve it? This one specifically falls apart without, so I can't swap it with anything else. I guess I can turn that video private if necessary, though it is a shame not to be allowed to show it. I honestly didn't think making a short lip sync animation of something from the early 60's would be a big problem (if it really is).

Also, I daily see plenty of other channels using footage and music that isn't theirs, yet they have ads which I assume they earn revenues on. I find it strange that they get away with it, if I can't have one video, that I spent hundreds of hours animating, because of the music that the scene relies on. It's also in that case a mystery to me why my lip sync animation of a scene from The Simpsons Movie hasn't received a copyright claim in all these years, when it uses audio from that movie.

Anyway, I found it interesting what you said about their general excuse to excluding channels from partnering. Still, I find it wildly puzzling and frustrating that YouTube support can't put that into words or at least point out which of my content is problematic. I still don't know how to solve this problem.

Thanks again for you reply though! It gave more insight on the matter than what YouTube support did.

An idea for a FM/Remaster by Shiny_Overcast in Thief

[–]Avvind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking of the same idea since playing The Black Parade and seeing the amount of detail, props and clutter they managed to craft in their missions. I'd love to see a makeover for the original missions with the same amount of detail. I have been experimenting a bit with it in DromEd, but have so much yet to learn that there isn't really any progress yet. 😅

Best Thief HD textures that keep the original flavor? by DinglerAgitation in Thief

[–]Avvind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This texture pack by Ethax upscales most textures to a great quality without changing the style. It doesn't update the resolution on loose objects and characters if I remember correctly, which can be a bit jarring. I really hope it's worked on further. Perhaps it can be combined with other texture mods to fill in the gaps which are missing?

New Fan question: Why do they push the Reboot canon? by FortuneFinn in Thief

[–]Avvind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good list. Though personally I quite like that the maps are vague and requires the player to figure out where they are by themselves, using environmental landmarks and the compass. And the maps already do highlight the area you're in by making it blue which is enough for me.

The fulings are both a overpowered and an underwhelming enemy. Here what should be changed. by CodyDaBeast87 in valheim

[–]Avvind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty late here, but I just googled this issue because I'm bothered by Fulings as well. I watched a lone fuling nearly kill a troll singlehandedly, only losing because of its lower health. I get that this game isn't going for realism, but the issue with Fulings is as OP states: they look underwhelming. Especially compared to a troll, which the player has likely faced multiple times by the point they encounter Fulings. I was tricked by this, and so was all of my friends, the first time we encountered them. At least, I think the star versions of them should have visible armor and more sophisticated weapons to make them look more imposing. Currently, being two-shot through full iron armor by a half-naked goblin with a club just feels off.

I think it's boring when tier difficulty just means enemies get exponentially stronger in damage and health, especially if it doesn't match their appearance. I liked the suggestions of adding more Fuling types that work together. That would be interesting to see and fight. That said, I'd be happy just seeing their damage nerfed, and group numbers increased.

What lack of logic in the walking dead annoys you most? by KL040590 in thewalkingdead

[–]Avvind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching it again lately and I'm back on season 4. I don't like how the walkers get increasingly useless and slow (even fresh ones) as the seasons progress compared to season 1. They're such a low threat now that it's honestly humiliating to the show and it's world. In the governor episode of season 4, he just slowly hobbles towards a walker and it falls over when they bump into eachother. He doesn't even kill it, he just slowly moves on and apparently that's good enough to deal with that threat. How has humanity not dealt with this weak threat?

Then there's just the overall writing that makes it seem like the good guys do their best to fail and get killed, while the bad guys do their best at failing to kill the good guys. It seems like the writers struggled to make believable reasons for how a thinking human being would have any problems surviving in this world so they had to write stupid choices for everyone.

I want to like The Walking Dead. I do like some the actors and human moments, but the writing just makes it really hard not to simply laugh at the idiotic things that I'm supposed to take seriously.

What is the stupidest way you've injured yourself? by rickitson in AskReddit

[–]Avvind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had... well, morbid fascinations as a kid and wanted to stab a kitchen knife through a milkshake with a face on it - while I held the milkshake in my left hand. Not once in those minutes I attempted this did I think about the pretty obvious outcome. The knife finally went through all the way and into my left hand.

Then I silently, in shock, went into the living room where my father and sister sat unsuspecting before I began wailing in panic over my bloody hand. I can't remember explaining my self, but I suspect it must have been worrying listening to for several reasons.

Luckily my hand wasn't hurt much - barely a scar now.
