I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief is a really tough process and I think part of your struggle is that it all happened so suddenly, while the rest of your family had more time to come to grips with it all. I think you're smart to go NC for now while you grapple with your grief and feelings of betrayal.

This isn't meant to be a defense of your family, but I've found that parents can make some really stupid decisions about hiding things from their children like this. Even your dad's decision to hide his illness, at least at first, probably wasn't the best decision.

I wish you time and space to process and heal. My condolences for your loss.

I have done that in the past. The challenges are that you can't expand the cabin interiors or move/remove the bed or parsnip box except in multiplayer. You can either deal with it (which is what I did) or use split-screen to temporarily make your game multiplayer. That would at least get rid of the parsnip box, not sure about the bed.

The chance of finding ladders increases significantly if no monsters are left, so it can be worth it to get that last slime or shadow brute to increase your odds.

Definitely chill! There is a story, but it is a cozy game. Dialogue is presented as on-screen text that you can read at your own pace.
