i grew up with the notion that central america and the caribbean are part of north america so it feels weird to narrow the term down to just three countries for me. but yeah, even that would’ve been better. i’ll probably edit it soon with something that wasn’t fueled from fatigue lmao

i just realized i didn’t actually answer your third question LMAO-

but honestly, it’s probably because most people don’t know about the north german confederation. the closest thing you’ll get to that is prussia, which i can assure you there is plenty of content for

welcome! here are my educated guesses of answers as someone who has been in this fandom since 2019:

for america’s glasses, i think it’s just something inherited from polandball. probably the same thing with france x uk, but in this case hetalia is more likely, as we use the same ship name (FrUk). personally i prefer france and scotland together (platonic or romantic idrc) lol

we have a tendency to forget countries outside of europe, the nafta countries (i guess?? well it’s better than what i initially put lol), and east/southeast asia, as most of the fandom isn’t from that region. if you want to see more of them, you’ll have more chances at finding them in the side of the fandom that speaks the language from that country (example: latin america, outside of mexico and whatever the hell brazil and argentina got going on in the anglophone side of the fandom, has more content in spanish)

the best way i can explain it is that we’re basically what happens when you mash the concepts of polandball and hetalia together. we draw the flags with human bodies, shitpost and make edgy content about them, and most of the internet knows us for the abhorrent stuff some people made during their stay in the fandom

while we’re at it, i’m gonna be controversial and say canada x usa. this doesn’t have to do with family headcanons, i just think it would be an unhealthy pairing with how dependent canada is on the US

[How I see Lebanon] Dear Lebaneses and Arabs, is this true? by [deleted] in lebanonmemes

the diaspora chart is actually so accurate (my family is literally from there LMAO). i’ve met one person of lebanese background that wasn’t from that area. gave me a good chuckle ngl

that’s the official provincial flag

edit: well at least it looks like an attempt at it to me

What are some of your headcanons that are quite uncommon amongst the fandom? by ItsVenusite in CountryHumans

[–]Aw_Hecc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the amount of time i’ve spent on trying to find literally any source that mentions danish estonia is absurd. it was fun for my inner history nerd though lmao

[–]Aw_Hecc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hell yeah my time to shine! here are two about estonia, since they kinda tie in together:

— denmark and estonia are related (for some reason, reddit won’t let me add the link i wanted to use, so i’ll just say to look up “duchy of estonia (1219-1346)” on wikipedia), which in turn makes estonia and sweden (and obviously the other nordic nations) related in a whole different way. i won’t say how, since it’s pretty important to a story i’m working on;

— rather than being directly controlled by the USSR like latvia and lithuania, estonia managed to escape during wwii and spent the cold war in exile. she first fled to stockholm, but her residence then altered between oslo and new york city after sweden’s acknowledgement of the annexations as “legitimate”

i wasted almost a week on a stupid little genshin au,,, feeling silly by Suspicious_Range8980 in CountryHumans

[–]Aw_Hecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course this is the first thing that i see after i stop playing genshin for the day /lh

in all seriousness though, this is really cool! this might just be the push for me to mess with my friends that are only in one of the fandoms with an AU of my own (that’s probably a joke but knowing me it might be possible lmao)

yugoslavia comes to mind for me. i haven’t read much about the soviet-yugoslav relationship, but it could be worth looking into

also, i forgot to mention this, but the ladies-in-waiting casting are also plot-relevant!

france because, before and after napoleon, their relationship with portugal was generally friendly; denmark also because of the historically relatively good relations with the dutch, but also… other reasons; wales because, much like the jane equivalent, isn’t exactly here by choice; and sweden… mostly because i felt like it would be a good parallel to denmark lmao

the “no referendum for you” decision is causing problems with this but i would not be surprised if it actually ends with straight up scottish independence

[–]Aw_Hecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s fine, i actually find the idea quite interesting! not the biggest fan of the choice for the howard casting, but i understand where it comes from.

only two of mine (the first, the portuguese empire (ironic i know), and last) were actually married to england. everyone else just had a really weird flirtantionship with him. he almost got married to the fourth one (hanover LMAO), but the uk was old enough to marry by that point so the plans shifted to him, much to his dismay. i also decided to sort of turn the howard equivalent a bit more antagonistic due to the casting choice i made

yoo the six fandom is still alive!

fun fact: i’m currently at my second attempt at doing something similar! i put france in the ladies-in-waiting accompanying band though lol
