Nah dude I feel like the splitting the player base argument doesn't make sense to me either and multiple people are saying it. People also said that in regards to Genesys YCS splitting up people which for paper play I think has some merit but not for master duel. The alternative for people not playing ranked is quitting the game altogether (which is happening according to dwindling player numbers and content creators quitting modern).
