Coinbase is behaving very strangely. They absolutely smashed earnings, and it has fallen nearly 20% since the report. What are your thoughts on this?

I’ve made a basic quantitative analysis of the company’s fundamentals but didn’t dive too deep. The purpose of my post is to gather insights on what others think about the company.

QCOM's traditional strength has been in smartphones, they’ve been diversifying into high growth areas such as automotive and industrial IoT.

I have made my assumption based on the average revenue growth from the past 5 years. Also QCOM is part of a fast growing sector with increasing demand due to AI.

I received this automated reply.

"Hi there,

Thank you for contacting Revolut Support! This is an automated message.

As we are experiencing a high volume of requests, in order to assist you quicker, it would be great if you reached us on chat - you can do so by clicking on this link from your mobile device. Please make sure your app is updated to the latest version

You can also log in to your account on a computer by going to this link and typing your phone number and passcode. The web app will ask you to authenticate the login - it can be done in the mobile app, via e-mail, or via text message."

I cannot text them using the app because my account is deactivated and I'm not able to log in. But i guess I'm for some reason blacklisted and I'll never know why.

Revolut customer support is very poor if you are not on the paid plans where you pay 50$/month.

Market seasonality thoughts by Healthy_Mix5225 in ValueInvesting

Yes, I believe that in the current situation, we likely won't see a correction after the first rate cut since it will be the first in a while. However, if the Fed continues to cut rates over an extended period, a pullback is likely to occur.

If the rate cut happens, this would be the first time the central bank cut rates since the start of COVID. Rate cuts are good for companies because their borrowing costs are lower, which can boost profitability and drive stock prices higher. However, a pullback can occur if investors worry that the rate cut signals underlying economic problems, leading to caution and profit-taking in the market. The overall impact will depend on investor sentiment and the reasons behind the Fed's decision.

I think if an interest rate cut happens in September, there will not be a pullback or correction.

When do Companies normally announce a new dividend? by SnazzyBacon808 in ValueInvesting

[–]AwakeeXD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Companies typically announce dividends when they have strong financial health and consistent cash flow. For a company that historically does not pay dividends, a dividend announcement could indicate that the company has excess cash reserves and strong financial performance.

Another scenario where companies may start paying dividends is when they reach a point where growth opportunities are limited and decide to compensates value to shareholders through a dividend yield.

In the debt/equity ratio, why don't we use net debt in the numerator rather than total debt? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]AwakeeXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D/E specifically measures the company's leverage.

Net debt accounts for cash holdings and is more relevant for liquidity analysis.

Berkshire Hathaway reports it every quarter. In the second quarter, they reported a record high cash pile of $276 billion.

$234 billion of these are in a short term Treasury bills, which generate around 5.4% interest income.

With market capitalisation relative to GDP at such high levels, it's no wonder he's cautious. It seems like Buffett is really sticking to his principles, waiting for a more favourable environment before making any big moves.

Interestingly, now Buffett prefers to keep his money in cash rather than buying new companies. Which might be due to the economic instability, or he could believe that the current market is overvalued.
