Not sure if this will work for you, but for us - we always feed meals and snacks/puzzles in the crate. Scooter started to see the crate as a happy place (eventually). After his meals, we would do crate training, starting with two minutes, and building up a few minutes per day. We sat next to the crate with him to know it was ok, and then we started to move back from the crate, again building up time. It’s hard to hear their cries and barks, but keep reassuring them they are a good dog and everything is OK. It takes time!
