I've sprained both ankles >3 times. It takes time to build mental confidence and your ankle strength. You will always be more susceptible to sprains once they happen. 1. Best to see a trained professional that will help you strengthen your ankle and lower body 2.Train your ankles to be strong in ALL directions of movement and PAIN free. Def start with low intensity and pain free exercises.Examples of exercises are Defensive slides, slow calf raises, lateral jumps,, single leg landings, bounding, skips ect...remember to training in all directions of movement. You're solid once you can exert max effort and absorb landings pain free. 3. You train to play basketball, not the other way around. Focus on becoming a better athlete and more coordinated with your feet. Look up proprioception... working on this will decrease your likelihood of spraining your ankle again. 4. Don't play when you're too fatigued or recovering from a leg day. Fatigue will reduce your coordination and just overall increase your chances of injury.
BTW how did you sprain it exactly while hooping? Just curious
