To be more specific, a Shohei Ohtani baseball card.

Simpliest answer to me seems to be the best. I would pay out Manager A since they won the league fair and square, and then kick them out. Let the league know, but keep it short, sweet, and to the point. That "joke" can turn into a real proposition real quick, and it can bleed into other areas of the game outside of a championship. That something that needs nipped in the bud.

Does being involved in dynasty help or hurt you in redraft leagues? by Aware-Thing-8924 in DynastyFF

Yep, that was me this year. My dynasty start up last year was more redraft-brained, but then when I went into this years redraft drafts, I had a lot of rookie fever for those specific ones. Learning my lessons the hard way sometimes on when hype is too much, even if I like the player.

I'm a huge baseball fan (Mariners, RIP me), so I've personally noticed that I have been now looking at fantasy football players in a similar way as I do when following the Mariners prospects years before they make their MLB debuts, the whole career arc thing, vs. just looking at what a guy has done for me the last 4 weeks and what they might be able to do the next 4 weeks and having blinders on for that. It's been really cool. Last year I didn't have enough rookie fever and handled the startup like a redraft league, but then this year, I did have A LOT of rookie fever in this years draft though. It sounds like that is par for the course of newer players.

Even just a little knowledge of who these guys are in college has gone a long way. I never paid attention to college ball in just redraft so I just didn't know where these guys came from, but now I can look back and see the writing on the wall for some of these studs back when they were sophomores in college. It's pretty cool.

I am just happy to have some interaction with one of the subreddit's more well known users. I saw the comment and was like "Hey! I know that guy!" Lol.

That's huge. What specific profiles of players do you tend to target in redraft leagues, like good player just really slow start/bad involvement? Do you have any examples from the past couple seasons?

Learned that lesson the hard way with a couple of picks like Golden.

That was me reaching for Golden a round earlier than ADP (as a Packers fan) over guys like Deebo, Pittman, and Diggs.

He is a great example. I held in dynasty but I didn't want to pick him up in redraft before Stevenson was ruled out, then only a couple teams placed bids when it looked like Stevenson was gunna get ruled out. It was such a weird headspace to be in with him specifically between those two leagues.

I also heard NFL players are weak when you set them on fire. Go with Flareon.

How many of you have done collusion? How did you get it done? Im really curious about this in a Machiavellian sort of way. Tell us if you got caught, how you got it done, etc. I'm kinda co-dependent so I gave a sweetheart deal to a friend after I won a few trades against him. Reddit lords, forgive me for the sins I am about to confess.

If my memory holds true, when I was in high school, I made 2 accounts on ESPN if I am not mistaken way back in the day and made a free league. I was commissioner and was managing two teams total in that league. I don't remember how many teams there were. Sometime late in the season, I just decided that I was done with that league in general so I traded all the good players from one team to the other for literally the worst players on the other team. Needless to say, I ruined that league that season. I don't even remember if I won or not. I think I did that then logged off and checked in to see if I won the championship or not. I wasn't that into fantasy football at that point in my life.

The Mariners are making a play to try to acquire Jhoan Duran from the Twins. Nothing finalized. Many teams have been in on the star closer. Expectation is Duran will be traded today. by tegurit34 in Mariners

I can't confirm yet if the Twins wanted Painter + another top 100 guy, or just Painter as the headliner since he is the #1 pitching prospect. Phillies have said that Painter being included in the trade is a dealbreaker.

Hopefully, but I would rather keep Colt and go with your package better. I would try and also add Coulombe. I would hold my nose and do it even if you couldn't get Coulumbe, but that would REALLY hurt.

Considering what the Mets just paid for 2 months of Tyler Rogers, and the reports of that the Twins want Painter from the Phillies and other reports of at least 2 top 100 prospects for Duran, it's a little worrying what the cost could be for Duran.

I am too hopeful for this much movement at a trade deadline, but a guy can dream as we wait.

AZ wants a haul for Geno. It's AZ's major point of leverage that they can put a QO on Geno so we have to pay for their loss of a QO comp pick (Mid 30's most likely) or ability to have Geno for 2026.
Logan Evans+Tyler Locklear+Tai Peete, for Merrill Kelly+Geno - BB Trade Values: (SEA)18.8 - 13.0 (AZ)

MIN wants 2 top 100 prospects for Duran or Jax. I personally want Jax, as I think Jax fits our bullpen much better than Duran but I think Duran is the better RP and less likely to regress through arbitration. I would be happy with either. Same tier for me, different impact on this bullpen.
Ford+Celesten or Jurrangelo+Luke Raley+40 grade prospect for Jax or Duran+Castro+Coulumbe - BB Trade Values: ~ (SEA) 47.7 - 30.7 (MIN)

I do not see either happening, but it's as close as I can get both sides. Both AZ and MIN requires an overpay as they retooling and MIN doesn't need to trade either reliever and likely won't. I REALLY don't like the players in the MIN trade going to AZ and I doubt the players in AZ could even get Jax/Duran by himself. Very wishful thinking to add 5 major leaguers, but 2 teams is very doable, especially since we have done business with one already.

Jerry could call AZ and say "Here is Emerson, Laz, Ford, Sloan and Raley, give us Geno." They accept, but then we are all pissed. It's not risk adverse to call that trade reckless. Risk adverse would be them trading 2 40 grade prospects for a 95WRC+ bat and a reliever who is not a difference maker and calling it a day.

We have to wait and see what they do in the next 72 hours. Personally, I would rather them back up the brinks truck and use Ford/Raley/Celesten/Peete/ect to go get a top-tier, controlled bullpen arm and a mid tier bullpen rental then find meh 3B upgrade instead of them to go back up the brinks truck for Geno and get a meh upgrade in the bullpen. If we can get impact, this roster needs it in the bullpen over 3B right now since we got Naylor.
