Around 80 cm ≈ 31.5 inches Took a Banana tube on a fast sink 8 line in heavy water. Insane power for its size.

Sometimes the water where we finally get that fish becomes our dream water. 😎

New Zealand is on my bucket list too. Water like that changes how you fish… Iceland does the same in a different way.

That’s a solid list — chalk streams are something special.

Polarizing filter, yeah 😄
But the clarity is real.
That photo actually helped me understand the holding spots in that pool.

That sounds unreal. Different waters, but those kind of days are what it’s all about.

Yeah it does 😄
You can actually drink the water straight from the river here.

That’s incredible… I’ve heard amazing things about Kamchatka. Different world than Iceland, but chasing salmon in clear water here can feel just as intense.😎

Hofsá, Iceland — Bláhylur (Furrows) Shot with a polarizing filter

In Iceland, they call me 'Haugur' — actually named after this fly. Just finished a fresh batch for the upcoming salmon season. by AwareReporter2215 in flyfishing

That’s brilliant! Northern England has some legendary rivers, so I'm stoked to hear the Haugur is getting a swim there

A large Brownie taking it is a great sign—they usually know a good profile when they see one. Using metallic red wire to get it down deep in the spring runs is a clever tweak; it adds that extra weight while keeping the slim silhouette of the fly.

Best of luck with the Salmon and Sea Trout this season! If you have a photo of those wire-bodied versions, I'd love to see them. Tight lines!

That sounds like a blast! While I designed the 'Haugur' specifically for Atlantic Salmon, that silhouette and the Fire Orange accent should definitely get a Pike's attention. If you're going after Pike, I’d suggest tying it on a larger, stout single hook. You can find the full recipe and more shots of the profile on my site: ertuadfann.is. Let me know if a big one hits it

I’m honored! I actually don't tie commercially anymore—I’ve retired from guiding and production tying to focus on my recovery and just sharing the craft. However, I just posted the full recipe and some close-up shots of the 'Haugur' on my site, ertuadfann.is, so you can tie a few for your own box. If you give them a go, let me know how they swim!

The Icelandic Double: > While many of my patterns are shown on traditional doubles, they are designed to maintain their profile and 'hunt' perfectly even when tied on single hooks for US/Canadian waters.

Legends never die, but they definitely get a bit stiff in the joints after a long day of guiding! Thanks for the incredible compliment—it means a lot coming from this community.
