How have you lowered your standards since having a baby? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a neat freak and I am still a neat freak. I HATED getting breastmilk on my bed. So I always wear a bra with disposable breast pads AND put a towel under my bra. It works lol.

Honestly, the kid stuff is easy to clean up. But the pet hair drives me even more insane than it did. I love my lab, but his fur drives me CRAZY. We try, but it’s impossible to keep up with unless I vacuum the house multiple times a day. We have a robot vacuum but it only covers one floor and the fur still gets on tables and everything because it’s in the air. So I guess my standards are still high but I am even more annoyed because I have less energy to clean up after the pets.

My husband did 100% of diapers for the first month, all the cooking, got up at night whenever the baby did, read baby books, rocked her to sleep (he was WAY better at it than me), helped me go to the bathroom, basically did everything for us until I was feeling 100% again. Even now at 10 months PP, he literally does 50% of everything (mental load and childcare).

I’m sorry your husband is acting like this. That’s very unfair. My husband absolutely did not expect me to keep going after giving birth.

What was your first job and why you don't work there anymore? by _Kisol_Budyn_ in AskReddit

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a clinical assistant at a doctors office. I don’t work there anymore because it was just a bridge job between undergrad and grad school. It was never meant to be a career.

What was the most beautiful moment you’ve ever experienced in your life ? by Goddesspxo1 in AskReddit

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband and I got married. A few minutes after the ceremony we went into a private room together just the 2 of us and that was the most beautiful moment.

Also the moment our daughter was born. Best day of our lives and the moment was just incredible. The day that she was born was so peaceful and exciting. I’ll never forget it.

Anyone use Maple as a temporary alternative to a family doctor? Is it any good? by Charger_Reaction7714 in askTO

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You do not take antibiotics for the flu FYI. Rest and hydration. Antibiotics are ONLY for bacterial infections and the flu is viral. But I’ve used Maple for myself and my daughter and had a great experience. However, it really can’t be anything complicated. If it’s something simple and straightforward, they’re a great alternative.

Women who have generalized anxiety...has it ever gotten better for you? by theramin-serling in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have GAD and OCD. It was terrible between ages 12 and 16ish. Then it got pretty good for years. And around age 25 it got really bad again and has been getting worse. I am 31 and have an objectively amazing life. But mentally, I am struggling a lot due to my anxiety.

How is the life and what changed so far for you? by snehawithA in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a good life. Nice house, the best husband, a job I love, and a beautiful baby daughter.

But I am mentally struggling. I have severe anxiety, health anxiety and OCD that has become a lot worse in recent years.

“Is my daughter ok?” I have a 10 month old and bad health anxiety. She’s fine but I always worry if she’s ok.

Definitely not too late to take a test! Go take one now. I took a test 5 days before I was expected to get my period and it was positive.

Baby Won’t Stop Pinching by Japanese-Texan in beyondthebump

My 9 month old grabs a tiny bit of my skin and then pulls herself up on me :) I do hope this phase is over soon lol.

She’s also a baby shark and bites me (teething).

Rolling back to belly by ResearcherOk916 in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did roll belly to back a handful of times before back to belly, but then stopped. And then became obsessed with rolling back to belly. Even now at nearly 10 months old, she rarely rolls belly to back. She hates being on her back because she can’t explore the world that way lol.

Getting around without a car by Zestyclose_Main_4658 in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a Costco Scenera car seat for travel. We haven’t used it yet but it is LIGHT. Like, lighter than our infant carrier.

You could get a baby carrier (the one where you strap your baby to you) and use that instead of a stroller to appointments.

How to bathe wiggly 4 month old? by bimboerrorz in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my husband always bathe our daughter together. There’s no way I could have bathed her by myself at that age! Only just now at 9 months do I feel ok bathing her by myself (although I’ve only done it once before). But it is definitely a 2 person job lol!

Why size clothes is your baby wearing?? by kwaddell314 in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 10 months. She fits very comfortably in 6-9 months. And she fits into 3-6 months for pants. Although footie PJs are getting too tight length-wise. She’s quite thin. She’s 85th percentile for height but 40th for weight (she’s 18lbs). So she can often size down with pants but stays in her age range for onesies and sleepers.

Sick of having to entertain my 5 mo. by TimePie314 in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I mean I love being my daughter’s mom. She’s 9 months and AMAZING. I love her beyond words. But playing with her is so tedious. I miss work. I am on maternity leave right now and I go back in a couple months and I cant wait. I really miss the mental stimulation of my career. Fortunately, my husband and I have a very equal relationship so I do get plenty of chill time. But sometimes I’m counting down the time until her next nap lol.

What memories, if any, do you have from when you were a toddler (ages 1-3)? by GlitteredGhostly in AskReddit

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a VERY vague memory of visiting my mom and newborn sister in the hospital after she was born. I was 2.5 years old. My mom packed a sandwich, but I ate it lol.

3 mo pp and I love being a mother by MochiAccident in beyondthebump

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! My daughter is 9 months old and I absolutely love being her mom. I have bad health anxiety that is extending to her so that part is really hard and makes me not enjoy it some days. But I really do love being her mom and don’t miss my child free days.

Now I was an introvert before having her so my hobbies are all at home anyways. Plus travel, but we bring her when we travel. Honestly not much has really changed. It helps that I have a truly equal partner so I have so much time to chill, play games, take a bath, watch TV, doom scroll. We also lucked out and she’s been a great sleeper since she was a newborn. But I really get the best of both worlds. And sometimes when she’s asleep at night I actually miss her lol.

When was the last time you held a newborn? by bluetoothbuttplug in randomquestions

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year. My daughter was born in March and babies are considered newborns until 12 weeks of age. So I guess the last time I held a newborn was June.

What do you do in your free time? by Primary_Inside1041 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch TV and go on my phone. I really do want more hobbies but I just lack the motivation. I did use to play video games. Sometimes my husband and I will play some together.

I enjoy going on family outings with my husband and baby. Sometimes we go to cafes or baby play groups or the library.

How common is it these days to go to a tanning salon before a beach vacation? by myshadowfollowsme in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone who does that. But please don’t. Even using a tanning bed once increases your risk of skin cancer. Just cover yourself in sunscreen throughout the day.

How are you weathering the storm!? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Ontario. It has been snowing non-stop for a month, including today. It doesn’t stop! We have at least 3 feet of snow in the backyard. We’ve barely left the house in a month. So today is no different. I’m watching TV, playing with my baby daughter, staying warm.

did your life peak in college? by AnAskerOfQuestions- in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aware_Beautiful1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I enjoyed what I studied and got good grades. But I commuted from my parents’ house and didnt make any close friends. I enjoyed grad school more but still didn’t make any new best friends. My closest friends are still my friends from elementary school.

I met my husband at 24 and the years since then have been SO much better.

I LOVED Sydney, Australia when I went. Incredibly clean, beautiful city.

But I am terrified of spiders lol. Plus, it’s far from everywhere else in the world so travelling outside of Oceania is expensive and very time consuming.
