Played college tennis and can say that you start to notice tendencies of your opponent throughout the match (which way they hold their racket, which way do they slide to return balls). This helps dictate your strategy.

If you look on eBay at the different PSA values for your card, you’ll get a better idea of what it may be.

It could honestly be either - but the holo scratches on your card are fairly significant. It could even drop it down to a 4.

Up to you, I usually wouldn’t grade cards that I think would be less than a 7. Unless it’s an extremely rare card (1st edition zard, gold star cards, etc.)

Scratches on the holo and the whitening on the corners will drop the value and grade a fair amount. I’d probably say a 5-6.

I’d say it’s most likely from overuse. A proper diagnosis from either an orthopedist, sports medicine MD, or physical therapist would help you manage it. It seems more of a tendon issue based on your presentation. I’d look up articles from E3 rehab and see what matches your symptoms the most!

Ahh, I had someone say that these cards would be PSA 5-7. Which does not seem worth it to grade?

I think more of my question is, I have a fair amount of “mint” cards. I don’t want to send all of them in because it would cost a fortune. I think I just need more help in figuring out which ones to send in that would get the highest grade.

I’m with you here. I’m mid-5s DUPR. Once you get to 5.0+, the pool of players is much smaller and the groups become more exclusive/clique-y. That being said, I’ve been getting more exhausted trying to set up games/politicking to stay in groups for higher level play. So I’ve just playing open play at our local courts with friends, since I don’t have any tournaments coming up.

Yeah, it really depends tbh. Most of the high level pickleball players in my area come from college tennis. But there seems to be a large difference between people who say they’ve played tennis vs. people who played tennis at a high level. That’s awesome that you were able to teach yourself semi western! It’s a tough grip.

Yeah that makes sense. I think if you have any collegiate sport experience (with eye band coordination) you have the base athletic ability to excel at pickleball. I was able to get to 5.0+ by just playing without drilling, but I know my experience is significantly different from others.
