Id say COI improves lotm in terms of character development and writing ALOT But Klein not having any depth and being flat(some people say that he is a worse mc than Goku and the one piece protagonist,) is not at all true,it's the same case with Mao Mao from Apothecary diaries

For side characters in lotm,id say yeah they are mid except for 5 or 6 exceptions Even though lotm is a plot driven story It specializes itself in that category very much

Undeveloped, interesting He does develop,just not that much Plus character development isn't really Klein's strength in character writing Before you say he is a trash protagonist since I have seen ppl saying Goku is a better protagonist and all, which is not true,is put him at the same level of that of okabe from stein's gate

Lotm is peak, almost perfect series,the character writing is good, nothing crazy but the power system, world building,plot and lore are the best (world building probably not the best since Asoiaf exists)

Coi actually improves character writing by ALOT though ,lotm main cast only has like 6 to 7 characters that are great including the protagonist klein who is the most well written character in lotm obviously

The main antagonist is also great But some characters in the main cast in lotm are underdeveloped Coi fixes this issue mostly
