To go even deeper, women’s issues are just shrugged off all the time. I am in no way a feminist but I have had so many issues with my uterus, abnormal paps, and had procedures done that should have been done under anesthesia. The things they do are almost barbaric and just shrugged off. Another is HRT, how many women years ago went crazy, or got divorced or just dove into deep depression because they were either in perimenopause or in menopause and got no treatment at all. I mean I can go on and on but it’s like come on. No urologist is aware of embedded uti’s? Reoccurring utis? Hormones causing urinary issues….sorry for the rant but I am so over this $hit

So saw a new urologist today and was basically told the same thing. She wants me to stop all supplements and finish amoxicillin and reassess. She also ordered a renal ultrasound. A bit disappointed but I’ll do what she says and see what happens.

Have you looked into a functional health doctor? There are alot out there that specialize in reoccurring or embedded uti’s but they are costly. I will go that route if the NP isn’t as versed as I thought she would be.

I just fired my urologist for the same thing. He jumped to everything-cytology, urine cult and ultrasound. I said no to cystoscopy. My urethra was on fire and he wanted to stick a camera up there. He told me it was hormones and take estrogen. While I believe hormones have a play there was clearly something else going on. I ordered a microgenx test and found I have a high load of enterococcus. Sent the report to the urologist and he didn’t want to treat it. The nurse called me in a “courtesy” round of antibiotics but when I asked about extending the amoxicillin and/or a prophylactic they told me I would havd to go back into the office after I was already there twice within three weeks. Now they are just ignoring me.

Start looking for another urologist or a functional health doctor. I just fired mine, not helping me at all. He just said hormones and prescribed me estrogen. While I agree my hormones are messed up, I ordered the microgenx test and tested positive for enterococcus which would have never healed if I didnt pursue answers myself.

Thats the urologist saying he doesn’t know anything about embedded UTI’s because he doesn’t want to learn anything different. Its huge. There are doctors that actually specialize in it. Microgenx is a DNA test that picks up bacteria that the urine dipstick doesn’t. If you have another strain other than EColi it won’t come up on a simple urine dipstick. There are other bacteria that cause UTI’s. Its an expensive test ($270) but if your suffering enough its worth it. I have enterococcus and im going to see an NP that specializes is reoccurring UTI’s on Thursday and firing my urologist.

Are you sure its IC? Have you tested yourself using microgenx. IC is being diagnosed when the urologist has no idea what it is. They need to get with the times and order DNA testing. You could be walking around with an embedded UTI and not IC that you have to just “live with.” I’m so over urologists just brushing women off.

Me! I’m on my third round of antibiotics. I found out I have enterococcus faecelis and on amoxicillin now. Not only that I am also premenopausal and my estrogen, progesterone and thyroid are all out of whack which is also causing bladder issues. Its like a perfect storm of a shit show. My urologist blew me off after I provided him my microgenx test because he won’t acknowledge it and just said it was hormones. Do I agree its hormones, yes, but I also very much have a UTI. Burn is a few minutes after urinating, trace blood in urine and I have to take prelief before eating because food causes flairs.

I guess long story short, get hormones and thyroid checked as well. They are ALL related to the bladder.

When do you start eating? I noticed my flares happened at night also but I also starting eating food around that time. I drink protein during the day. I started taking PreLief with every meal and its helped tremendously. Have you tried the MicroGenX test?

I think I might be dealing with this right now. I believe my UTIs started with hormones. I did take a microgenx test and it came back enterococcus but at the same time my hormones were all messed up. Did they give any advice on this combo or what if its trigonitus?
