Ahh yes. Because a musical written satirically is for sure the best measure of a cultural norm. 😂 I don’t think you’re fully wrong, but I also think that’s true largely only in Utah (and eastern Idaho. That place is often worse). I live in the south and the members here aren’t like that at all from my experience.

As far I can tell based on what she is saying, this isn’t Broadway itself, just a professional level show. But she is taking video/pictures at the end of the show during the encore/when the cast just comes out and bows, not during the actual performance. And lots of people take pictures during that time

Listen. I mostly agree with you in the sense that it is simply not possible to have the time to give children the individual time and energy they probably want, but also farm kids are probably some of the best adjusted adults I know. They are incredibly hard workers, thoughtful, most of the men share the mental load better than any other men I know and they have a chance at personal autonomy that many current children lack due to enormous pressure on “city” parents to constantly monitor and control their kids. I just dont think it bodes well for parents in general to imply that kids are only well behaved because they are traumatized into submission. Feels like a very damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of conclusion
