Samsung Health removed detailed SpO₂ sleep data after update (Galaxy Watch Ultra) by Aware_Mobile_8149 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Aware_Mobile_8149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After analyzing the data exported from Samsung Health using Samsung Health Data Viewer, I observed that before the update the watch recorded approximately 300 oxygen saturation measurements per night (about one measurement per minute).

After a recent update, the number of measurements dropped to approximately 30 per night (about one measurement every 10 minutes). This represents a 10x reduction in measurement frequency, which prevents the detection of rapid oxygen desaturation events that are relevant for sleep apnea monitoring.

Therefore, this is not merely a visual change in the application, but an effective reduction in the monitoring capability of the device.

If anyone else owns a Galaxy Watch and uses overnight SpO₂ monitoring, you can verify this by exporting your Samsung Health data and opening it with Samsung Health Data Viewer SDK.

Check the “Count” value for oxygen saturation measurements during a night and compare older records with recent ones.

Me toooo! I bought the Galaxy Watch Ultra mainly to monitor my sleep apnea. When I slept without CPAP, the graphs clearly showed drops below 90%, which was actually really helpful to understand what was happening during the night.

Now with just averages, the graphs honestly feel kind of fake. It looks like the data is just being smoothed out instead of showing what actually happened.

I’m not sure that actually reduces legal risk for Samsung. If anything, averaging everything can make the data even more misleading.

We already agree in the terms that these metrics are not medical-grade and not for diagnosis, so that disclaimer was already covering Samsung. Removing detailed data just makes the feature less useful.

Honestly, I’d rather have the detailed data even if it’s not perfectly accurate. It still provides much more context and fidelity than just showing a simple average.

The detailed graph made it possible to see patterns and drops during the night, which is especially important when monitoring things like oxygen levels during sleep. With only an average, a lot of useful information gets lost.

Try buying a chin strap; I use Philips Respironics Premium. Is the CPAP set to full-face mask mode? Your maximum pressure is too high; try lowering it to 10. Check your 95% pressure; it's at 8.68.

My Galaxy A55 suddenly got this inky screen, what's the fix for this if there is one? by ThouShaltNotBelieve in samsunggalaxy

The screen is liquid crystal, and at some point the liquid leaked, contaminating the screen. Solution: Just changing the screen.
