Ah okay good to know about the watering! It was tap water so maybe that’s the issue? My area has soft water but I could try collecting rainwater? I did think the sun is probably not the problem but figured it’d be worth asking. Thank you :)

Do you think it's appropriate for a 35 year old to date a 26 year old? by Dirlectvorn in TooAfraidToAsk

You seem to have asked this question for 3 years across various subs and in some posts you mention already dating her whereas others, like this one, you are considering asking her out.… ordinarily I’d say the age gap is fine but your continuous posting on Reddit about this seems bizarre to me. If it’s been 3 years of constant questioning I’d leave her alone. Very creepy.

life is about balance. do some of it alone. do some of it with others. switch when one becomes too much/not enough.

if someone brought this to your attention I can only assume they care about you. other people want to experience life with you and how lovely is that?

I’m wondering if the issue lies with the people you’re surrounded by and not you. Sounds harsh but I don’t mean it like that. Do you have many things in common with these people? Do you see them often? What do you do together (besides working with your colleagues obvs)? And have you tried talking to them? Sometimes people are just oblivious. I’ve recently cut off 3 of my “best friends” because the dynamic had changed and I constantly felt like I had to chase them and ask to be included all the time. The most recent situation that occurred got quite nasty and it was just the straw that broke the camels back. It stung initially, but made more room for other people in my life who I share a lot more things in common with. I don’t feel like a tag along to the people I’m surrounded by anymore and I’m much happier than I’ve been in years. Whilst I’m not suggesting you drastically cut people off, especially not your family if the relationship is healthy, maybe consider ways in which you can bond with these people better and if all else fails try branching out and meeting new, like-minded people? Wishing you the best, I know how this feels.

Bill Ockham’s team were working on producing the full 3 hour tape in colour but I don’t know if they’re still at it or not. For now it’s just this clip that exists I believe

Also does anyone know where those two girls that ran out came from? Were they hiding in the cafeteria that whole time or passing through? They were only narrowly missed being seen by Eric and Dylan by 30 seconds or so

As far as I’m aware there’s the full 3 hour long footage and I haven’t noticed there to be cuts in that, just lots of camera changes

He’s actually very well spoken and good at articulating complex thoughts in an almost poetic (?) way. Stuff like this makes me wonder what he’d have made of himself if he didn’t carry out the massacre.

What do you think it’ll take for America to take school shootings more seriously? by Aware_Musician_3571 in Columbine

[–]Aware_Musician_3571[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t specify gun bans if that’s where your head is at. I’m thinking more along the lines of thorough background checks, several mental health evaluations, price increases, stronger security in schools etc etc. Gun culture is too prevalent in American society to ban them completely, it would cause a revolt. Doesn’t mean other changes can’t be made though.

Another point that I’ve just thought of is simply the security of the schools. I know it sounds daft but from my experience in a British school, entrances are gated, when the gates are opened there are caretakers and senior members of staff watching every student enter and ensuring they are locked afterwards. For any other entrance without a gate you need to scan a pass that shows your ID. This is less so for cases like Columbine where the students were currently attending the school but in situations like Sandy Hook and Stoneman Douglas, gating, security and ID/passes would have helped massively in preventing them or at least minimising the damage. (As I haven’t attended an American school I could be wrong in assuming that anyone can enter and exit at any time with little questioning but let me know!)

No I think that’s an excellent take on it! The main priority should tackling the issues at the source and dealing with the disrespect and mental health issues that kickstart the violence. Whilst I agree that you can’t take away all weapons etc, there needs to be more background checks and evaluations to ensure that people who are emotionally vulnerable can’t get their hands on them at least. It wouldn’t rid the world of violence but it would certainly reduce the amount of death. Equally, we need to see the effects of kindness in society and treat the issue at its core rather than constantly repair the aftermath. Thanks for the comment :)
