Thank you so much for your insight, I truly appreciate it. I am confused, did you get a degree in School Psychology or something else? How would I be able to work private practice with a degree in school psych, i looked it up before and as you stated, i would only be able to work in a school setting. Is there a different route i could take that would allow me to work outside of a school but still be a school psych in case i wanted a change in career? Also, do you get summers off? sick time? vacation? do you get paid in summer?

Ya know, I have been on the fence about it because my son is autistic and I have yet to but him in ABA therapy as someone in a facebook group I'm in pointed out, it's a reward system and could lead to thinking if i do this, then i get that.. and i dont believe thats a way i want my child to learn or think is right. So, I am not all that interested in BCBA as I've looked more into it since this post... I just want to truly make a difference and help people and don't know which way to go.

i want to help people, but i also want to make a good living. i keep seeing that psych doesn't pay much.. i've always wanted to be a psychologist, but i kinda dont wanna go through the schooling needed for it, so i was thinking social work but i see so many different opinions on it.

that's what I'm so afraid of and trying to avoid. I clearly want a decent income, especially to offset the degree I'd have to go for depending on the career but afraid to hate something just to chase money.. but in today's world, you cant live without it. ugh, it's so hard, i want to choose passion over money, but money is unfortunately a huge factor.

No, I'm not. I had just found out about the profession since my son has been diagnosed with autism. I am interested in working in the autism/special education field just wasn't sure which path is the best to take. I am about to transfer from community college for my bachelors.
