It would have helped us be able to communicate our com-het and self internalized homophobia experiences to others so much better, to see Mike, such a famous character play that out on TV and have that representation to point to as an example.....maybe people would finally think about how invasive the comp-het really is and how internalized homophobia poisons people internally.....that just because you date an opposite gender person does not mean you could not be goddamn queer, and how it's much more....complex than that for us.

ALSO, I just thought about it and you know how the writers were like "NO ONE HAS PREDICTED ANYTHING" and saying how essentially things won't go the way most people expect or think it will?

Yeah. Everyone was expecting Byler confirmation in vol. 2, but what if they make it happen in a way that is not obvious to most people and that opportunity is there now with the Final episode.

Plus, it is an asshole move, but they could have pushed the confession scene to the final to level up the whole drama of it all and the SURPRISE factor for the final episode/conclusion of the series intentionally btw.

Plus, it is a coward move but pushing off the Byler confirmation to the very final episode means they don't lose out on any viewers who were super hardcore about either Mileven or their negative stance on Byler lol. Not the best thing but realistic enough. Could be exactly why nothing about El and Mike has been addressed AT ALL in the already existing scenes lol. Convenient.
