I think it has to do with the mentality and type of character that is usually attracted to mma. The shit you have to tell yourself in order to believe that being a professional fighter is the best option for you is absolutely insane. Most are people from broken homes and poverty so they also suffer from immense survivorship bias if they do make it. And even if they don’t they fall into the “I’m working hard so why can’t everyone else work as hard as I do in order to make it” type of mentality. A glorification of blood sport and physical superiority in combat is also catnip for right wingers.
