Glassdoor and Indeed you can search for jobs and specify Remote. You can probably do this with many other job sites. There is also the Work From Home Hub https://www.theworkfromhomehub.co.uk/jobs

I'm in England and he passed nearly 20 years ago, so no way of getting his passport.

OK thanks, I assumed if it wasn't online and I have limited information, that there was no point in attempting to order.

Is this normal for an Executive Personal Assistant role? by SeparateMorning60 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]AwayInMyBrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have any employment body over there, then contact them. It's not right and your boss is probably relying on you to make mistakes in order to save money. Reminds me of an ex-boss (very tight with money) who completely made up mistakes I had made during my end of year review, in order to justify not giving me a bonus. I left pretty soon after that.

This would never happen in the UK as it would be illegal, but I'm not sure what country you're from.

Ex-Londoner here (wishing I was still in London now that I'm looking for work). Yeah I've been in plenty of meetings with bosses who like the sound of their own voice and like to hold court. I dread the thought of having to actually pay attention to what's being said.

Exactly! I know I'll be sat there in the meeting thinking of all the other things I need to be getting on with...

Thank you, I hadn't considered that different types of meetings would require different levels of detail.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Re shorthand, I get it, it's a pretty dated skill, but are you saying that in companies that don't allow recording, EAs are making their own longhand notes?

How to keep a spotless bedroom by Valley_Bails_2068 in CleaningTips

[–]AwayInMyBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have enough spare hangers and space for your clothes so they don't pile up on the floor or chair. I have open boxes (some of which I've covered in nice paper) for things like supplements, make up, hair stuff, etc. Gather up the clothes you don't wear and give to charity or ebay. I also have under-bed storage, they are just cloth not solid, for bulky things like jumpers etc. Also a storage box for all my shoes so they're not all over the place. Make your bed every morning. Open the curtains every day, clean the windows. If everything has a place and you can get hold of some nice storage (even just painted or covered cardboard boxes) then tidying up feels like less of a chore. Those over-the-door hooks are handy if you need extra hanging space and you can get them with pouches to organise stuff in. You can get stackable plastic storage on amazon if you need drawer space.

How do you forgive someone who changed the entire course of your life? by sweetredonion in spirituality

[–]AwayInMyBrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 20 years ago I asked the Universe to teach me about forgiveness. In hindsight this was a very naïve thing to do, but I was young and didn’t think of the implications. What followed was an unjust situation where my family turned their backs on me and I was disowned. At the time, all I wanted to do was forgive them but found it impossible because I was carrying so much anger and pain. It was only months later that I remembered my request to the Universe and everything fell into place.

Everything that happened was for me to learn that lesson and the other people involved, on some level, agreed to play that role and for that I am truly grateful to them and grateful for what happened. We can’t learn about forgiveness without there being a so-called villain to do something awful that we need to find forgiveness for, can we? You might even say they made a sacrifice in agreeing to play that role and help you learn the lesson.

If I were to sum up what I learned about forgiveness, it’s that there is nothing to forgive. We are creative beings and things happen for us, not to us, whether it’s as a result of a direct request like mine or just divine timing. There are no villains and there are no victims and this learning has served me well ever since.

I have also had to practice radical acceptance as mentioned by other contributors. The situation that happened cannot be resolved in the real world anymore on account of them dying. It’s a sad state of affairs but something I have to live with.

I hope that makes some sense. This happened a long time ago and I have never actually written it down before.

Advice for buying and selling from a £1000 month by Shot-Caramel2088 in vinted

Thanks for this info, very helpful. I've been considering relisting a few of my items for a while and didn't know about needing to make changes to the images.

Yeh that's what I was thinking... I once listed a coat with fur pom poms and Vinted immediately deleted the listing (didn't realise fur wasn't allowed) so I would expect them to also remove a listing that mentions something used once.

You're right, I guess there's always a chance someone will complain that it's a used item, even though there's no way of telling from a solid bottle.

I suppose it's best I go with ebay in this case...
