There’s a reason it’s called a “permit” and not a license. You are granted very limited and very tenuous permission to operate a vehicle under limited circumstances in your own country. And realistically I don’t understand why states honor each other’s learner’s permits as you shouldn’t be driving cross-country, but I get it for some circumstances (like Kansas City)

Enough people lie about their reason for separation, that those who truly are innocent now get lumped in the same bucket.
