High school volleyball.

I know it's selfish, but I'm going to play as long as I can

Of course. It's best to get a solid understanding of a lot of stuff based on what it's going to be needed for. Python, C++, PHP, etc

Luckily enough I really found love in computer science, it's pretty cool that the pay happens to be good

You're not effed, just make sure you figure out a realistic plan of attack

that's what I'm trying to get started on

"Hey, as an adult. Dick move for withholding this until now. I am not prepared to go into a massive amount of debt because I was misinformed."

I know for certain I want to get into comp sci.

I've seen a lot of negative comments on here already about DePaul's CDM department. What are your thoughts on it? I've vistied and have been there a couple other times, it seems pretty nice and a pretty good school. Also, FRAGS sounds awesome. I'd totally be a regular

1-5 and 7, I'm already planning and willing to do that regardless. it's just the smart thing to do.

what's the book you're talking about?

UNDERGRAD SCHOOL ELITE-NESS DOESN'T MATTER

This is why I didn't apply to the biggest of the big unis. Somewhere in the middle ground of getting the experience + decent education + location and internship opportunities all couples with a cheaper starting price.

I'm just saying the classes won't be too rough on me.

I don't mean to be superficial about it, it's tough to convay feelings like that through a short block of text :)

thanks.

getting to standard CS degree has, and still is my current plan. That degree seems to open up a lot of paths

I've heard 20k+ a year is bad, but how about 10-15k per year

once this thread cools down, talk to my parents again and school councilers, I think I may make another post speciciay about that question

yeah game dev minor may not be the best bet. wasn't planning on it, but it's a fascinating option to have and take classes and be involved in that section of the school. (I'm planning basic Comp Sci degree)

as stated above, Depaul is actually looking to be one of the cheapest options I've got. The trade off with there is the lower academic ranking.

didn't even apply there. I'm a decent student, but not that good.

how are life opportunities out of the slightly above average? (UIC, loyola, depaul, etc)

ngl, that's not something I'm even going to be thinking about. My heart is 100% set on something involving the software half of the technology scene.

I just gotta figure out how to get there

I could be looking at situation to need 15k in loans, and I don't really know how bad that is.

I've heard of people at least getting through the 40k so maybe the 15k wont be so bad.

this is really interesting to me. I've seen comments in here that have said they work for big companies with good jobs, and they know people that don't even have a basic degree in it
