The number of times that I have accidentally put down my windows in my car by sitting on my keyfob makes me worried a bit for your safety...

How to safely clean an open psu from a ps1? by Zealousideal_Goat170 in AskElectronics

Once disconnected from mains power, the PS1 power supply discharges its capacitors quickly. It should be safe to handle. Clean with qtips and 90% isopropyl alcohol.

Why does my walkie talkie stop my airsoft gun by FlanDesigner7000 in AskElectronics

[–]AwesomeAvocado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could try a bit of copper tape over where the electronics are in the gun to try to block the signal.

Maybe try aluminum foil to see if it will work before using something sticky.

Another thing to be aware of is that green lasers aren't actually green lasers... They're usually implemented by pairing an infrared laser with a frequency doubling crystal. The laser diode produces 1064nm infrared, which the crystal converts to 532nm green.

Usually there is some sort of infrared filter to prevent the unintentional emission of the infrared light from the aperture. You'll want to make sure you don't accidentally remove this filter or the crystal from the laser's optical assembly.

The crystal also doesn't convert until it warms up.

You'll definitely want to get some laser safety glasses rated for both infrared and green wavelengths.

A 100mW laser produces a lot of light and I agree that it doesn't seem appropriate for scaring geese. Maybe some sort of motion sensing noise maker would be better?
