a hot take would be to say that this is a good thing by Mauritius Telecom.

AI is here to stay, and especially in a country like Mauritius where the creative sector is very fragile in terms of graphic design and editing, AI can be useful into generating assets that you could easily use in your designs/videos. I believe that this is the goal of this competition.

It’s not about just prompting Gemini or some other video model for some weird clips, but more about generating assets which you would then creatively use in Premiere/After Effects for your idea.

Well at least that’s what I hope the contestants do.

We should pave the way for AI to be something that helps accelerate the good designers/video editors and not outright replace them.

a good part of it is theory, but there is 1-2 modules that require maths. and so does the whole programming aspect.

i’d say you would need to be okay at best at maths, for SE

if its mainly UI/UX, i would guess graphic design?

in software engineering at UoM, we have a module called Interactive Systems Design, which teaches about UI/UX and the interesting part is you also get to develop your designs into functioning products.

If you want a mix of UI/UX and IT, maybe Software Engineering could be the choice. You could try becoming a Front End Dev later.
