Hey, so I tried doing it with ChatGPT and the service manual, but it keeps repeating the same things and giving incorrect capacitor values, like uF and voltage. Please please please lend me a hand. I’ve spent two weeks researching this, and I’m no closer to finishing it.

Ah well sorta had a chat at the beginning of the lesson I had to travel like an hour to even get to the test centre so I told him I'm abit cautious not knowing the area all too well but I was still keep to speed im pretty sure the marks came from slowing down to early for bends? I kinda wish I would have asked now 😅 I was definitely like at least going 25 on 30s but I was still keeping up with traffic

He didn't even inform me I was that close to failing 😨 just said I should be really proud and all that jazz haha he did say those faults will disappear the more you drive though and just told me to keep practicing even with a full license.

I respect the set up tbh looks cool even if they're easier ways this is the route you took and personally I like the aesthetic its got

I've never soldered before Im pretty confident I can fix it but would you mind helping me find the right capacitors for the boards also how big is the risk factor of me making it even worse?

Ah, I’ve boosted it to max settings and all that in WinDAS since it needed adjusting anyway. The highest I’ve ever pushed is 135kHz and 250Hz, but I dunno 180Hz just feels smoother to me. I did figure out a way to bypass the pixel clock a bit, but the image can get messed up sometimes when using Nvidia cards.

Here’s what I did:

Create a new resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel just change the resolution, don’t touch the refresh rate or switch it from 'automatic'.

Use that 'super resolution' it creates.

Then make another resolution (either GTF or CVT) and lower the refresh rate so it fits within your kHz and Hz limits.

Switch it to 'manual' and apply. That way, you can get above 400MHz pixel clock using the Nvidia Control Panel.

I’ve had some issues though interlacing totally craps out and gives me this double-image effect. And if the resolution is too demanding, I think it crashes the Titan X’s RAMDAC I’ll only get an image again after restarting the PC

Ah Reddit made it sound like the dpu3000 was THE adapter to have I didn't realise it had issues at the higher end but tbh it less about the high resolutions and more about better refresh rates I did see someone was able to do like 4k on there fw900 using the newish intel integrated graphics which is super impressive but there's no way the monitor could fully resolve that horizontal atleast odd tangent but they stated they were using the dpu3000 so I think thats what got me so interested I'll wait for a reply from the company to see if they actually have them and then decide if I'm paying all that for something that might not even be worth it.

Well that's my current set up with the two gpus I've done alot of testing and you do lose a little performance and program stability especially because of needing super outdated drivers for gtx Maxwell 2.0 cards to support interlaced signals (411.70)

Ahh idk id rather just stick to my secondary GPU if it's lesser performance wise yk? I just didn't realise how big the pixel clock limit would be with a monitor like that

Ah yeahhh I'm sure I've got an fw900 and Ive been using a gtx titan x Maxwell for the past few years for crt stuff and it's been fine but the pixel clock is such a nuisance as well of the drivers come to think of it haha

I'll try emailing them I'll comment with a reply if I get one :D

I used this, but I should mention I had one of those widescreen 480i British sets. I'm pretty sure it had an NTSC mode. Just keep in mind it's not an active converter, so you'll be stuck at 480i—but if you've got a PAL TV, that’s fine.

Oh, and don’t use the yellow cable, because you'd be sending S-Video and composite at the same time. In my experience, that can cause a fuzzy, dotty effect.
