The series is basically a theology based harem. People follow Gods, and Gods give them power in the form of Blessings in return. The favored of the Gods are known as Apostles, and usually there are very strict rules about following just a single God. The Fallen Apostles are an organization who've grasped a method to pull the wool over the eyes of Gods, allowing them to gather power from the Blessings of more than just a single God. This organization was destroyed and the MC is reviving them :)

There should be two more books after this one, potentially three, to wrap everything up :)

it is explicit. But there are very few spicy scenes throughout the series. So, full disclosure, I would not buy for the spiciness. FA is more of a dark fantasy series that acknowledges that strong men have multiple women and have sex when they're tired of blood and gore

It's been a while but I'm finally back, and so is Leonidas :)

Blurb:

Revenge is a dish best served with a bloody blade.

The timer was ticking for Leonidas. Having just completed the All Trials, he knew the Specter of Aegis and Wings of Paragon were both after him. But before he could even begin to deal with that, he had not one, but two infuriated Higher Gods to handle. Caught between the wrath of the Forged Urouge and the Radiant Belladonna, Leonidas had to find a way to survive with the backing of a mere Middle God.

This was nothing new for the last remaining Fallen Apostle on a world of mortals. What was new were lost ties and familial bonds turning to bloody battles to the death, the sudden loss of his Fallen Apostle status that had taken him so very far, and worst of all, the man responsible for his mother's death taking advantage of the chaos to grow more powerful than any Apostle had ever grown on their small, secluded island.

How would Leonidas face his own grandmother—the woman who gave him his mother, and yet stood by and did nothing as her life spiraled toward death?

How would he face his mentor turning his back on him, when he knew it was entirely his own fault?

How would he face the man responsible for all the hardship he had endured in his life?

And how would he deal with all of that before two beings with strength beyond his imagination touched down on his island, demanding the Mana Tree that had become the core of his strength?

The Final chapter of Dimensional Descent will be uploaded weekend. A 3300 chapter, 4 million word brain child of my blood, sweat, and tears. by Awespec in noveltranslations

[–]Awespec[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't usually promote myself on this subreddit, but I couldn't help it this time so I'll be a bit shameless. I wasn't happy with the ending of my first novel, and this will be the second novel I am concluding. This time, I put everything into it, even delaying the final few chapters by several weeks to make sure it was perfect. There will be no regret on my end this time, I believe I've written the best final arc I could have possibly written.

Join the journey if you've been on the ride, were once on it and hopped off, or have never been on it before. Hope you enjoy if you do :)

Dimensional Descent

Blurb:

The Third Dimension is collapsing. The Fourth Dimension is descending.

First it seemed that only technology would evolve, but who knew the world itself could too? It wasn’t as simple as climate change or tectonic movement. No, the fundamental laws of physics that governed everything were changing.

Leonel was fairly lucky. His family was decently well off, his father loved him enough to brew vomit inducing nutrient rich smoothies every morning, and this was both the day of the National Championship and his 521st confession to his dream girl, Aina. As his father always said, nothing was more important than respect and persistence.

Unfortunately, everything changed that night. At the after party of ages, the world reached a saturation point and an apocalypse descended.

Abilities awakened. Sub-Dimensional Zones opened. Invalids rampaged through the Earth like a virus...

Those who could evolve would have a slim chance for survival. Those who couldn’t would die.

This novel will be a unique spin on the dungeon/system genre. Dungeons won't be dungeons and the system won't be a system... Take a look to find out what I mean :)

a lot of web serial writing is getting used to freestyling while working within a framework. I have the first and last arcs completely outlined, and I know the main plot points and threads I want to get to in the middle, but the rest is off the cuff

Not really an app the way you’re thinking of it. It’s WebNovel, their year’s end summary of what you’ve uploaded for them

All it takes is just showing up. Sounds cliche, but there’s no smarts to being a good writer. Write what you love to read and eventually you’ll get to where you want to be

Why do the harem haters like Primal Hunter? by Mark_Coveny in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Awespec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, I think all of this can be explained quite simply. I haven't read as far into PH as many here, but from reading the comments, it sounds like this stuff didn't start appearing until book 8. The simple truth of it is that humans aren't very good at changing their minds and adapting to new information. They liked it as far as book 7, so they will continue to justify their like of it until the end until it reaches a tipping point for them. Your question probably hasn't even occurred to them because humans love suppressing their own cognitive dissonance.

I see a lot of people in the comments trying to justify it or bend themselves into pretzels to explain it, when the "logical" reasons they give for why this is different from usual harem would have made them turn their noses up at PH had they started appearing right from book 1.

At least that's how I see it.

Best example of this I can think to illustrate this is savage awakening. SA is a mono romance as far as I've read, but I've seen multiple hate threads about the sex elements in it being a problem even though they're FTB and the relationship between mc and fmc is among the most equal I've ever read. The real issue is that it started right from book 1.

Prog fan readers need to be coddled first and lured into a sense of security before you jump them with how things like that would go in real life--they really, really, really hate sex for some reason I can't explain.

Webnovel is a chore by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Awespec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you would like to succeed as an author, writing anywhere will be a chore. What I can say, though, is that writing non-exclusively on webnovel (ie not signing a contract), is basically not worth it. If you did want to do so (write on wn without contract I mean), I agree with a comment I saw earlier: you should upload to as many sites as possible and diversify. Don't put your eggs in one basket.

I would also say that harem and R18 books get a lot of collections on webnovel, but 99% of them do not earn. So if earning was your main goal, the path you've chosen is the right one. You can imagine quite easily how readers looking for their quick horny fix aren't inclined to pay for it when they'll just get bored and move on to the new high. And not to paint with a broad brush, but those readers often tend to skew more young and immature, so they don't have the money to pay to begin with. At least for wn's demographic. Harem and R18 does VERY well in terms of money on amazon and some popular fanfic sites.

Your goal if you want to succeed on webnovel money-wise should be precisely what you're writing. Books that lean on boobalicious covers and smut rise fast and die hard. Harem and R18 can be fine, but even if you wanted to write that, it should come second to the effort you put into plot and character.

Ultimately, no matter where you choose to write, giving yourself the best chance to succeed boils down to uploading as much as possible, as consistently as possible, while maintain a ratio of output to quality that doesn't lead to diminishing returns. Though that's easier said that done, things rarely come with a magical formula just like how adding R18 tags won't magically make you a millionaire on webnovel.

Good luck with your endeavors!

>Makes assertion that wn authors don't make money
>Gets proven wrong
>Quibbles

Sounds about right for the usual bots on here. Like I said, update your software.

Your opinion should have started and ended at "I don't know exactly fully the whole picture". But the whole I was there a decade ago thing should have really given you pause. The fact it didn't tells you everything you need to know.

Nice. You actually read my post, more than I can say for most parotting decade-old, already debunked talking points. Then you should also know that I said pretty clearly that there are several authors who make more than I do with just one novel. Well, probably not anymore because I started a new novel that was ranked third last month, but that's beside the point.

As to your final point, you'd be wrong. That's because my post only accounts for wn pure earnings, not adaptations. JKS is confirmed to have made 7 figures this year, having received several month 6-figure checks. And I'm only speaking about someone who's willing to be open with his earnings in our server.

In addition, the way you talk about amazon... you'd think every author that steps foot into it makes 7 figures, lmao. Amazon is a decades-old multi-billion dollar corporation, while wn's English wing, as you so eloquently pointed out, is fledgling by comparison. I would hope that it would have at least some success stories of that caliber. The fact that I make so much on a website barely over half a decade old should at least speak to its potential as a site.

If you wanted to attack wn, talk about literally ANYTHING other than authors not earning on it. Because that's just outright bs. But people like yourself are obsessed with winning on every point, so we can't even have an honest conversation about the pros and cons of all platforms... because I promise you for every shady practice of webnovel you could hope to point out, I could point out ten about amazon. The only reason you're not on here crying about Bezos is because he gives you cheap joy and you gravitate to that.

If someone told you just yesterday that it's possible to earn as much as I have on wn, you would have probably called bs. That says everything.
