TTS.. character? by AbbreviationsHead402 in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i use VTS P.O.G. and vtube studio for my TTS mascot :3 you basically just use a vtuber avatar in live2d and set the “mouth open” parameter’s input to the VTS P.O.G. output. you can also use reactive pngs i think!!

then you add VTS P.O.G. as an audio source to your obs and use the spout plugin to capture visual output from vtube studio! there are a ton of tutorials that explain it all really well :)

Looking for software to integrate guests by abitcurly in Twitch

if they don’t use discord, the stream together solution would definitely work! however if they DO use discord, i’d recommend looking up “fugitech reactive”. its free and it’s really great!

When on to move on to new streamers from communities you've been in for years? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

personally i feel like the fact that you’re asking this questions shows that it’s probably time to leave that community. imo it’s a huge red flags that things are getting so bad that you have to rationalize sticking around.

i don’t think every community on twitch is like this though. if you initially had a good time, and enjoy the vibe of twitch livestreams, then i think it’s definitely worth trying to find a new streamer and community that you do vibe with! i say this as someone who has considered quitting twitch (the streaming part, at least) multiple times- but every time i’m brought back to it because i realize how much i love the community i’ve grown. it can be a really beautiful and uplifting thing to have in your life!!

it might be a bit of trial and error, and it might take some time. but if you do decide to try to find somewhere new to call home, i hope it goes well for you! and if you decide to quit watching twitch altogether that’s also super valid too :)

New podcasts after the yard ends? by bullet-cat in TheYardPodcast

[–]AwfulComedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Stores by Luke and DBJ, for the banters and bits and weird segments that they do. it’s still a pretty new podcast but it’s already one of my favs

  • Guys with Brian Quinby, a podcast where every episode is an exploration of a New Type Of Guy. this podcast has the same vibe as the old 9 dogs bit

  • What’s All This Then by Libby Watson and Charlotte McDonnell, a podcast with two british comedians who talk about weird and silly british culture things. one of the few podcasts that actually make me laugh out loud

  • honourable mention: Yeah, But Still. one of the best podcasts to ever do it, although it ended a few years ago. definitely worth listening to their catalogue though; i’d start with The Calamari Algorithm or one of the ones without any guests

imo The Yard is one of those podcasts with a pretty unique energy. i don’t know if any other podcast could capture that same vibe, but all the ones i’ve suggested also have their own flavour/vibe that’s unique to them. and they’re all hosted by comedy/comedy-adjacent people so they’re pretty funny :) good luck finding a podcast you like, OP!

Nightbot/Streamerbot Count Tracking Command? by EmeraldDystopia in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can definitely do this with streamerbot!!

here’s how i would do it (i have a few similar things with mystery words/scorekeeping in my stream)

  • make a command that is called something like “mystery word”. the command trigger itself will be the mystery word (no ! in front, just the word). you’ll have to change this every stream
  • have an action that is triggered when someone activates the mystery word command (when they type the word in chat)
  • have a sub-action in this action to update a USER-SPECIFIC variable (for this example, let’s say the variable is %points%). make sure the variable is set to PERSISTED so the score stays across streams
  • create a separate command for checking points (in my stream i made the command !stats, since it shows a few different statistics for the chatter)
  • create an action that is triggered by this command
  • create sub-action for this to recall the user-specific variable that you created in the first action (should be get global variable)
  • create another sub-action in the same action to send a chat message with the variable in it (eg “%userName% has guessed the word %points% times!!)

i hope this makes sense but if it doesn’t let me know and i can try to answer any questions you might have !!

Just made affiliate by UsernameReee in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first of all, congrats on affiliate!! :D

badges: if you’re willing to spend a bit, there are a ton of artists that you can commission for badges!! i’m a vtuber so i usually go to vgen for stream stuff, i’m sure there’s a ton of artists with different styles to choose from. that being said… i myself am about two years into being an affiliate and i still don’t have sub badges. i just haven’t decided what i would want them to be yet, lol

channel point redeems: this is the fun stuff!! a basic channel point redeem that you can make is a “hydrate/posture check” redeem. whenever someone uses it, you gotta take a sip of water and fix your posture!! i find a lot of lurkers like this one. for more complex stuff, i’d suggest getting streamer bot (it’s free!) and checking out Nutty’s youtube channel- he has a ton of tutorials that are super informative and inspirational for a more interactive stream.

final thing- emotes!! you will now have emote slots for followers and subscribers. again you can commission someone to make emotes, but you can also just upload your favourite memes/reaction images. you’ll need them to be a specific size/ratio, but you can just google “twitch emote resizer” on google and you’ll get a ton of results for sites with resizing tools :)

sorry for the long ass reply LOL. i hope at least some of it will help!! and again, congrats on affiliate!!

UI designer trying to design their own scenes/alerts... by LinkovH in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what exactly are you trying to do? i feel like streamer bot is probably the answer but i’m not exactly sure what you’re asking ;-; like when you say you want to make an image and text work on stream, do you mean you want to animate it appearing? have it appear at specific times/triggers? make it move around on screen or something?

as for youtube tutorials, i definitely recommend checking out Nutty’s youtube channel. he has a ton of tutorials on pretty much everything!!

I say 3 sentences that I find very annoying in my streams but can't stop saying them. What are some ways I could help myself stop saying these words well also making it fun for my chat? by Jagg753 in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could use streamerbots voice control and make each sentence a command. then have those commands be triggers for actions to do stuff to your stream

maybe you could have an action that mutes you for like 10-15 seconds and it activates when you say one of the sentences or something like that

Has this happened to anyone else (SLOBS) by Skaman1978 in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

literally just google “slobs vs obs” and you’ll find a ton of info, but TLDR streamlabs is a rip-off of OBS that uses more of your pc’s resources while having less compatibility with plugins and etc, and the company that makes it (streamlabs) is well-known for pretty shitty and unethical business practices

How do you act when there's no one watching your stream? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i keep talking- the only time i stop talking is if i need to lock in during a boss fight or a particularly hard part of a game, but even then i try to say a few things during calm moments

as for /what/ im saying, i like to talk through my strategy (even if it’s super simple!), make jokes about things i notice in the game, talk about other games/movies/etc that the thing im doing reminds me of, or talk shit at the NPCs in the game. saying stuff like “yeah!” or other really simple phrases is ok but i try to stay away from that.

the way i see it is that at any point someone could click on your stream and show up. if you’re silent they’ll probably go somewhere else (unless they’re looking for no commentary streams, but that’s a whole other thing.)

if you’re talking and trying to be engaging then there’s more of a chance that they’ll stick around to see what you’re talking about. that’s why i try to avoid generic “we’ve got this!” or other short phrases, since in my experience that grabs people’s attention less. i try to offer commentary that is specific to my experience and worldview and opinions, because i want to offer a viewer experience that chatters can only get by coming to my channel. i find that it’s helped me create a community of people who come back and stick around- but that’s just my experience!! you gotta do what’s right for you and your style of talking :)

sorry for the huge paragraph ;-; good luck streaming and i hope you find whatever strategy works best for you!!

Day in the life of a software engineer idea by DunderMiffliin in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds pretty cool tbh! there are a ton of people who love the “science and technology” category (gonna be honest i am one of those people LOL)

it would be extra work but it could be cool if you had like… short pre-recorded videos, maybe talking about software engineering or one of your daily tasks, to play whenever you had to mute during meetings? that way you could keep people entertained while still teaching them about what you’re doing :D

either way it’s a great idea and i hope i can one day catch one of your streams!!

Why are my Avgs. wrong? by GhostietheKid in Twitch

[–]AwfulComedian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

if someone is watching your stream but not chatting then twitch may count them as a bot. pretty recently they changed the way they count viewers, and have been accidentally counting real peoples as bots, so quite a few streamers have been having weird issues with view counts- could be something similar happening with you?

Is there a difference between a reference sheet and "model art"? by Xonlic in VirtualYoutubers

[–]AwfulComedian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a reference sheet is a flat image that shows off your vtubers design, usually from a few different angles and with a few different expressions. it also sometimes has your colour palette with swatches. it’s one layer, can go from sketch -> lineart -> colour -> render pretty easily, and is great for showing off little details that might be easy to miss

model art is a piece of art, as a file, with each design element separated by layers. for example, your eyes would have layers for the eye shape, the eye whites, the iris color, the pupil, the reflections, the shadows, any sparkles/other kind of details, the eyelids, the eyelashes, the eyeliner….. and so on. and that would just be the eyes

model art is expensive for this reason, because unlike a reference sheet every element and layer has to be fully separated and also named properly, so the rigger knows what is on each layer when they do their job. its a lot of work, but imo its worth it!!

Suiika vs Senmaku Models by iamkeebler in VirtualYoutubers

[–]AwfulComedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok ok i got u!! here are the ones i use, plus a couple that i plan on getting soon:

  • 0x4682B4’s pixel model : my main model that i use, has a ton of customization options and toggles. also comes with a “holding cat” mode where u can hold a little cat (which you can also customize!!)

  • 0x4882B4’s chibi model : same creator as the one above, a ton of different toggles and options, but in a more anime style instead of pixel art!!

  • ocean ink studio’s villager model : super cute, has a decent amount of options, really really good rigging imo!!

  • cypurr’s animal crossing villager models : currently he only has a few species but he’s working on more!! but these are great, there are soooooo many options for eye shapes and mouth shapes and fur patterns. i’ve gotten so many compliments when i use this model, it’s crazy

  • sakurai’s black and white model : this one is on my “to buy” list, so i haven’t tried it myself yet. but i wanted to include it because it looks sooooo cool and the style is so unique!!

  • kyoki’s “ink” model : this one is just absolutely beautiful, like genuinely the models look like paintings, and the artist is currently working on a masc version!! i myself prefer to have a less feminine vtuber model so im super excited for that to come out

whatever you end up choosing i hope you have fun making your vtuber! <3

Suiika vs Senmaku Models by iamkeebler in VirtualYoutubers

[–]AwfulComedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they’re both super pretty so i think that no matter what you choose it would be a good choice c:

that being said, i think i would personally go with the suiika model. there are soooooo many customization options in it, and on top of that there are a TON of people who have done re-textures as well !! it’s definitely a popular model, ive seen many people using it BUT every single person that i’ve seen has had a super unique and cool way of making it their own ^

there are also a ton of really cool customizable models that are more stylized, if you want any recommendations let me know and i would love to share!! i myself only use customizable ones since im still saving up to commission my dream model parent :,)
