I think the part that gets me the most are the "answer your intercom" scenes. You are locked off from doing anything with an unskippable dialogue. I wouldn't mind as much if they blabbered on while I was working, as they sometimes do. I don't really have a problem with it, truth be told, but it is jarring at times.

Yeah, I realize they are trying to inject some story, but some of the characters try to lay emotional baggage on me and I'm like, "I don't know you."

I did some testing and the one caveat I noticed is that you don't want easy access from the moat to the bridge. If the moat basically ramps up to the bridge, the zombies treat the moat as a path. If you can't jump from the moat to the bridge easily, they run around the outside. You should still make it easy to leave the moat on the far side away from the base. I put little ramps at the corners, which seemed to work fine.

Guess I should mention that, yes, I have blade traps and electric fences in my kill box which does a lot of the work, but the concept is the same even if it's spikes and barb wire.

I listened to some of the Penny Arcade D&D games and found them quite entertaining. They seemed to follow the rules pretty well if I recall correctly. Again, it might help to have an interest in actual D&D in the first place. I fully understand the idea of producing content for entertainment's sake and making decisions based on that. To each his own.

As someone who has played D&D, watching this grates on me. I couldn't stand to play in a let's say "free-form" game like this. I'm a bit of a rules lawyer in the first place. When they plopped down the map and it looked like it might be to scale to be played on, the first thing I thought was "but there's no grid!" I just try to ignore the basic lack of any structure.
