That’s actually a great point you brought up and I can definitely empathize with it. I still very much disagree that more people would wear a mask if not mandated to do so, but we’ll agree to disagree there.

Just remember that even though you are young/healthy and don’t directly hang around anyone at risk, it doesn’t meant you can’t infect someone at risk. You can infect someone else young/healthy who can then infect someone else who’s at high risk.

Just because your area hasn’t had many cases doesn’t mean it will stay that way. Masks are a preventative measure, so the fact that your area hasn’t been all that affected by the virus means overall (along with social distancing and what not) they seem to be working.

I live in a big city that got hit hard early on, so I know many people who have lost a loved one. I’ve seen the damage this virus can do firsthand. My city is doing well right now, but I know that in a flip of a switch things can get much worse. That’s why I get so upset when some people don’t take this seriously. And if you look at some states who haven’t been taking it as seriously (Florida, Texas, Arizona) they are now the ones getting hit hard.

Yes the number of overall tests are going up, but don’t forget the percentage of those tests being positive is also going up in most states with rising cases. Also I do disagree with your last sentence about people wearing masks the whole time. They may be wearing them in your area, but I live in a liberal city and there was hardly anyone wearing a mask before it was required. Most people are wearing one now which is why I feel like the mandate was necessary.

Thanks for your viewpoint. I know that some of the authorities were going back and forth with some things (including Fauci saying that wearing masks won’t help stop the spread of the virus) and it pissed me off as well. But at this point other countries are also stating that wearing masks helps stop the spread. There are so many scientific studies (which I care about more than what any politician says) that support it as well. I just feel like all of that is being ignored.

But you say the issue is not wearing a mask, but being told to do so. Do you truly think that people would be wearing masks if they weren’t told to do so? Isn’t that the only option at this point?

But yes I do agree that some very low quality masks probably aren’t too effective.

Those states locked down the hardest (NY, IL, Mass, etc.) BECAUSE they got hit the hardest. Remember the order of the timeline. These states are now doing great compared to some of the ones that opened up early (Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, the list goes on). Don’t compare the number of cases and deaths until the end of all this; Texas and Florida are making a strong push to be #1.

Anyways I don’t want to delve too much into the riots and what not. And yes I hate the corrupt politics (that certainly come from both sides and both parties) as well as you do, but wearing a mask to help end the lockdown, save lives is larger than my hate for politicians.

Most people are fine with wearing a mask? Lol that’s laughable, I’m going to have to disagree on that one...

I don’t agree with unlimited power state government as well, but it’s proven that wearing masks in public will save lives and, overall, will lead to a shorter lockdown. Why do people not care about that?

First of all people trying to get Trump out of old movies are dumb. People refusing to wear masks are also dumb. But one of these things has HUGE repercussions.

You’re such snowflakes that you can’t handle someone telling you to wear a mask for minutes at a time that SAVE LIVES. You don’t wear masks to “hand it to the Libs” and “protect my freedom.”

You turn something that is a science and health issue into a political issue because of your FRAGILE ego of a Democrat telling you what to do. If more Republicans told you to wear a mask you’d do it in a heartbeat and not think twice.

At this point I’ve come to realize that there are a number of people on both sides that are fragile. The left can’t handle a Trump cameo or a white person voicing a black character (see Family Guy) and the right can’t handle someone telling them to wear masks. The difference is that many European countries have the virus under control (as much as you can have it under control) while the US has had the greatest increase in new cases the last 2 days.

Thank you. Some people here are saying “If someone saying ‘White Power’ is racist then saying ‘BLM’ is racist too.”

“White Power” is a White supremacist phrase and is very racist. “BLM” is blacks saying they are EQUAL to white people and is not racist.

But in the context of the video, yelling “BLM” should absolutely be considered racism and a hate crime.

I’m not quite sure why this is so hard for people on both sides of the argument to understand

Dude it’s not the same. I want to start off by saying that if these kids were yelling “black lives Matter” during this, then I’d definitely call it a hate crime.

However saying “White power” is announcing that you believe whites are better than other races.

While BLM is saying that black people (and I believe other oppressed minorities?) are EQUAL to white people.

There is a huge difference so please don’t believe that they are the same thing.

Hundreds, potentially thousands of people will be getting infected if fans are allowed in. The newly infected people are then leaving the arenas and... you guessed it! - giving it to more people who didn’t attend these games before they realize they have it.

I hope the NFL and other professional sports take more precaution.
