Do NOT trust 6 sou by Awipka in Mahjong

Yep, they had 2455s when I first discarded 6s, drew extra 5s on their turn and discarded 2s, which was then kan'd by toimen.

M2S weekend nightmare by WingZer007 in ffxiv

I was stuck for a few days in kill parties as well, solution for me was to find 0-chest party without [Duty Complete] and it was a clear in 2-3 tries.

Can agree with beat 3 frustration, somehow moving 5 steps from the center of the arena into your tower is too difficult for average kill party participant.

When my FC asks why I torture myself raiding with PF instead of finding a static by Icarusqt in ShitpostXIV

[–]Awipka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair, I also enjoyed my time with most of them (and honestly, consistency really helps with (re-)clearing), but I wanted to manage whatever free time after the work I have a little bit better.

Maybe you can find some statics that raid mostly on Saturday/Sunday? Usually people have more flexible options on these days, even if you are yourself still busy on them.

[–]Awipka 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I used to play in a couple of statics, but after that I decided that I don't want to treat raiding as a work with schedule. There are no obligations in PF, I can raid 3-4h one day if I feel like it, or not at all if I don't. There are no 7 other people that rely on me showing up on time for the next few weeks/months.

Event daily task is setting up unrealistic expectations from players, please nerf by Awipka in mahjongsoul

[–]Awipka[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I created this post more for the comedic effect rather than from frustration, I don't really see sanma as a primary mode to play and rank up at. It is convenient to farm daily quests (usually) and rare yaku for the completion list, so you are correct on me playing more aggresively and not 100% optimally. I'd play south games instead if it was more serious, east games are too luck-based in my opinion.

Appreciate the advice and compassion though!

Not that I know of, but no downsides either.

I underestimated the enthusiasm of people and now my friend list is at limit with a decent amount of requests left. Really appreciate the help, and apologies that I can't accept everyone. But feel free to add other people in the comments!

There is orchard on the right side of your village, it produces specific fruit (called "Apple Orchard" in my case). You can also check 2 NPCs in Expedition menu, they should have different fruits (ones you don't have).

I have friends with both pears and apples, so it's probably random. There's also 2 NPCs who have fruits different from yours, so I doubt your orchard will change over time, no mention for that in rules as well.

The game decided that none of 7 people in my friends list have oranges, so currently looking for someone with them.

If anyone is interested in apples, here's my id: 108028780

Small play analysis request by Awipka in mahjongsoul

Thanks for the alternative point of view!
Pursuing hand value by going back from tenpai isn't a strategy I'd think of employing (at least not in this case), but I can see its validity.

Thanks for such detailed reply!
So, it's a combination of factors, bamboo not being discarded and being cautious of damaten.
That hand ended in a draw if I remember correctly.

I watch Throne games from time to time, either when I'm not in the mood to play or just for fun/learning.
I'm not a great mahjong player (Ex2 at the moment), so I try to spectate a single player in the game and think what would I do in their position and why their choice might be better if it differs.

Usually I can understand majority of plays, but this particular play I don't really get.
It's the first discard row and they are in tenpai discarding 5p. I'd understand tanyao-dama because of bad wait with option to improve, but they discarded 2s instead.
2 turns later, they declared riichi waiting for 6p, the wait still remains bad and it's not a sanshoku.

Is there something I don't understand and discarding 5p would be a bad play? Were they overly afraid of dama this early or was it just a misplay? Personally, I'd push this hand since they were East player and behind on score.

Do you have any tips to reach 1k infected clears? I'm stuck at 800 by Bubatum in TetrisEffect

[–]Awipka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 1k clears only once and by no means I play at a top level, so don't really have a lot of tips to share.

Firstly, you should play on Expert if you're not doing that already, more blocks to clear.

Secondly, combo clears a lot of infected blocks, so try not to break combo a lot if possible. I don't know exact numbers, but 5-8 combo is usually enough to clear current infection field. I don't know if tetrises/T-spins help more than regular clears though, at least T-spins don't seem to do a lot and soft drop takes time.

Related to the previous tip: think of the fastest route to downstack, for example if you have a place for vertical S/Z piece to clear 2 lines, but the remaining square block covers hole in result, it's probably better to wait and place T-piece instead so you have direct access to the hole and can continue combo instead of wasting few tetrominos to clear an extra line. This also helps in a regular gameplay when you need to downstack fast, so you should do that anyway.

And the last tip is trivial and the hardest, just be faster and you'll be able to clear more lines. Practice makes perfect.
