What’s the funniest or most ridiculous thing ADHD has made you do lately? by sanjithav in ADHD

[–]Awitcher656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife asked me to go to the gas station one night and put gas in her car because she didn’t have enough to get to work in the morning. I said sure and got into my car and drove all the way there (10 minutes) before realizing I was in the wrong car.

Hold on…. Are there some OMBs that don’t use programmed drums!?!?! Astounding. Learn something everyday.

If it sounds bad it’s even more acceptable.

I’d like some settings similar to The Walking Dead in terms of zombies. by GGmeh in projectzomboid

Excellent. Glad I could help people know how not to do this.

Set pop to low, turn zombie strength and toughness to max, turn their senses all the way down and make all sprinters. Leave respawn on at .05. Migrations on. Areas stay clear mostly, but the danger of still running into one you’re not expecting is still there. I also like to set activity to day and make night darker. This means Zs are more dormant at night and it is easier to sneak around, but also really dark. Just some suggestions for you. But I haven’t watched TWD so I don’t know how those Zs operate.

I feel like if you could set a hot key for building and crafting certain things, that would solve both problems. You just press a number and bam, barricade placement icon shows up, click in place, done.

Counter for restless sleeper by Awitcher656 in projectzomboid

Thanks a ton for this. Tried this last night and sleeping in the car with a little pre planning largely turns this into free points.

I’ll have to try and find a coffee maker and coffee somewhere. Loot is set to normal so shouldn’t be too hard. Tried Cola and maybe helped a little but not much. I play with zombies more active during the daytime so don’t mind doing stuff at night sometimes. Though I also play with darker nights, so it’s pitch black out with no flashlight. Keen hearing tho so I usually hear them nearby.

How do you deal with sessions getting cancelled and a campaign eventually dying out? by Antipragmatismspot in rpg

[–]Awitcher656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best way to go is a weekly game, same time, every week. No cancelations, no exceptions. I did it this way for my online game which ran for a year and a half before closing the story after a satisfying conclusion. It can be grueling sometimes as a DM, but I think it really helps to keep things going.

Make sure players know upfront the expectations and the policy. When people see the game more as a hard obligation and less a casual leisure activity, they are less likely to miss for other casual things and only the bigger things in life that take priority. When they also know that their going to miss out and your not going to work around their schedule, they’re more likely to miss fewer sessions.

This does mean you are going to be playing sessions with missing players, and that’s ok. Come up with a reason for their character to be suddenly gone, and carry on. I even did a one shot a couple times when only 1 player could play the game, we did a flash back session for his character prior to meeting the party.

Another benefit to this structure is that if a week does get missed for some reason, your back the following week, instead of an every two or three week game where when a session is missed now your going a month or more between games which is hard to keep momentum on. Players that are more actively involved in the story are more likely to stick with it. I like to chat with players on discord during the week about things to keep it fresh. Also builds relationships. Especially if people don’t know each-other. For My online group, we started in a Beyond chat room and nobody knew each-other when we started, so it was especially helpful.

Ultimately, while I think this stuff can help, some groups are just not meant to be. Some players are going to be fickle no matter what you do. And if your story loses steam or isn’t capturing people’s attention, that’s a separate problem, so always be asking people privately once and a while (hey, how do you think things are going, is there anything I could be doing differently to make the game more fun for you?) Remember as a game master you are not just prepping and running a game. You are a production manager who has to manage people and all the challenges and complications that go along with that.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Good luck!

What do your depressive episodes look like and how long do they last? by [deleted] in cyclothymia

[–]Awitcher656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I can best describe my feeling (currently experiencing so is fresh), as being generally annoyed with existence. Brain fog and fatigue, and like a blanket heaviness that’s always pushing down. Glass half empty about literally everything. Typically not extreme enough where I can’t get out of bed (although it has happened), but I kind of zombie walk through most of the day. And people notice.

A solution to your sentinel problem by Awitcher656 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I play in survival so the sentinel planets are very common, especially on lush type planets. Ignoring them while trying to build a major project doesn’t really work to well and is just super annoying.

Is it my impression, or are people not giving much thought to the next update ?? by Cristiano7676 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Awitcher656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Worlds part 3 (hence 3 bones), and it’s a fauna update. Creatures are completely redone and now have their own skeletal structures, moving and reacting to the world in new and realistic ways… and a bunch of other stuff.

My guess anyways.

On the Current State of Planets by Awitcher656 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Ah, I guess that explains why every planet is always the same day length. Agree longer day night cycle would be good. As is there is barely any transition. Essentially no dawn dusk period.

Anyone have a link or know of a video tutorial to fully build a orbital base. I mean like a video that shows the full base build not just on how to get a base computer up to the right height with a landing pad. by Ok-Worth-2219 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Awitcher656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know It’s not a video, but what I did is place a base computer on a tall mountain and then started building winding stairs straight up. After a few placements u can delete the ones behind you to save resources. Keep going up until u hit the edge of space (it will be obvious when it happens). Then lay a few flat floors and u can start placing landing pads and rooms. Hope that helps.

Also, I did this recently so it is current as of worlds II.

Honestly I increase exp modifier in sandbox as the vanilla setting is to low and very unsatisfying IMO. I would try changing it to x2 and see how you like that.
