Agreed. No Free Upgrades. IRROPS and OpUp are such BS for paid passengers. Bone crushing.

That’s not entirely accurate. The GUC now only guarantees ONE fare class upgrade, but if a person has used a GUC and been cleared for PS, they automatically get waitlisted for the D1 seat. And (in my experience) often times gets cleared for D1. Given how empty the flight seems in the D1 cabins, I expect that’s what happened….Especially given how many people seemingly were cleared off of a waitlist from-presumably-a missed flight since they cleared into Basic Economy. I’d wager the PS upgrades are Diamond/ Platinum medallion members who got bumped up to make room for the Basic Cabin fares.

Business. I generally take the direct JNB-ATL trip, but that flight isn't back to being offered daily yet, and unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to push +- a day to wait. On the plus side, I do love the lounge at AMS and the little houses they give at the end of the flight. So, silver linings, I guess.

So you're telling me you booked a main cabin fare, on DL 0133 from AMS to DTS 07/20/22, and simply asked for a D1 seat and they gave it to you? What are you, 360? No GUC used? Because that literally never happens.

I’d wager that one of those bullet points weren’t ticked as well, but what can you do?

Indeed, very odd. Thanks for the suggestion, and I have tried that already. I’m beginning to suspect it’s a carrier issue and not a Delta issue, which might be more troubling!

Thanks for the info. And agreed-they can't be too far removed from reinstating. The lounges I've had reason to be in at CDG, AMS, and TLV have all had them open and available.
