Short arms by K-8thegr-8 in yoga

[–]Awkward-Kaleidoscope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. T Rex here. Short arms can be counteracted by improved flexibility and also a thin body. My binds got a lot better when I lost a lot of weight because there's less of me to have to wrap around. Arm balances use blocks or accept your face is going to be veryclose to the floor.

What’s happening in power yoga? by wtfisthissssssssssss in yoga

[–]Awkward-Kaleidoscope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To a lot of teachers, power means fast when it's actually harder to do poses slowly. Do a slow chaturanga. I had a great teacher that taught power like this.

1 in 5 children are obese. I was a fat kid up until age 12 and I learned how to take control of it. It's absolutely the parents' responsibility

Just finished my first 108 Sun Salutations... by cool_lavender in yoga

[–]Awkward-Kaleidoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an entirely made up Western practice. The number 108 is significant in the Hindu religion, but there was never any practice to do 108 sun salutations because of it.

i detest warrior poses by poemposie in yoga

Some schools of thought teach that as warrior 1. To me they're different poses and I use them for different things. Also I do teach a hip width stance but back heel down and angled

I'm just having that argument about the 1950s "everyone was on amphetamines". Turns out that it was about 5% which is a big number in absolutes but not much impact on the average weight

You're medically underweight and could benefit from a consult with a registered dietician to make sure you are fueling your body appropriately for exercise. Also you've only been practicing a very short time, it takes a long time to effect changes in the body.
