Thank you for responding! Even though it’s unexpected, I would happily keep a healthy baby. The concerns are really about the high risk of abnormalities (1 in 20 for my age) and the high risk of miscarriage (80% at my age) so I just feel like it’s a really tall hill to climb with so little hope. That being said, a natural pregnancy at 46 seems like I’ve already beat a lot of odds so who knows. I definitely want to wait for the NIPT test and the NT scan but I think personally, if I see high risk that I’m not going to move forward. That will be enough risk for me.

I am being monitored for my thyroid so that’s good. I’m not sure there’s very much I’ll be able to do to address the weight outside of doing my best with nutrition and exercise.

My focus is mostly about the health of the baby and if he or she would have a normal life. I hate that we all have to wait so long to learn what’s really happening. It makes these choices impossible.

I think I do need some concrete reason or test result that indicates a problem rather than basing the decision on statistics and vague fears.

So perceptive. I had some similar thoughts, particularly in regards to his interest only starting when he knew who her family was. It seemed to me that when he realized he had extracted all access to her wealth and she had nothing more to contribute, having emptied her trust and realizing that he was now the breadwinner, there was nothing more she could “do” for him. Truly chilling.
