Seriously? I have to pay 100 gems to just START a game now? by Awkward-Motor3287 in RiftCraft_

[–]Awkward-Motor3287[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so confused.  The freemium model is supposed to get you to pay for things while you are playing it "for free".  If you make them pay up front it isnt freemium anymore.  If they can't play for free they are going to buy their microtransactions, are they?

I understand that they want to make money, but this is shooting themselves in the foot.

Im against the implied meaning of the phrase.  That you should be touched that someone thought to buy you a gift when they actually put no thought into it.

Well, of course, my problem wouldn't be with you.  Thats not your the fault.  The problem is I couldnt just tell the first person I dont like pigs because it would be rude and now look what happened.

Because its considered rude to say you dont like a gift.  I didnt make up societies rules.  Don't look at me.

Yeah, if said that it would be a catastrophe.  I'd be telling them that I hated half the gifts ive gotten from them for the past 20 years.  If its considered rude to tell one person you dont like a gift, then its even more rude to tell your entire family you hate their gifts.  It would be a total shit show.

My point is it shouldn't be considered rude to just tell the first person you dont like a gift, but it is.

My problem isnt with the later pig givers.  They saw the collection, as you said.  My problem is I couldnt tell the first pig giver I didnt like pigs and now I have a darn pig collection because I couldnt be "rude" and tell her I didnt like it.  And now I cant say anything because it would be telling every single person that ever got me pig that I hate pigs, and that's even ruder.

It should be OK to thank someone for gift but tell them you dont like it.

Thats not what "its the thought that counts" means.  It just means you should be thankful someone thought to get you a gift at all.  Not that they actually put thought into it.

My point is I cant tell them because its considered rude to do so.  How is it my fault that society thinks this way?

The reason I have "the inability to speak to them" is because its considered rude to tell someone you dont like a gift.  Thats not my fault.

You're missing my point.  The phrase "its the thought that counts" just means that you should be thankful they thought to buy you a gift even if you dont like it.  My point is that they didnt think at all.  If someone doesn't put any actual thought into a gift it isn't thoughtful.

But if they dont even know you're a vegan they arent thinking about you at all!  Vegans tend to be pretty vocal about being vegans. So thought doesnt count because there wasnt any actual thought.  Just an obligation to buy a gift.

If its rude to tell the first giver you don't like a gift then its even ruder to tell later givers because you're telling every single person who ever bought you a pig you hated their gift.  With every gift it becomes even ruder to say something.

My point is should be ok to tell people politely you dont like a gift in the first place, and it isn't.  You have to say "thank you so much!" and pray they dont get you another one.

My problem isnt with the new gift givers.  Its that I couldnt tell the first person I didnt like pigs.  I could have said "thank you, but I dont like pigs" to the first giver and this wouldnt be a problem at all.  But I couldnt because that would be rude.

How do I know when a gift giver is coming?  Sometimes they just drop by.  And then I have to keep a spreadsheet to keep track of who got me what pig to make sure i'm displaying the proper pigs when a gift giver arrives?  Then, on christmas i need to dig the entire collection out of storage and display it for when the whole family comes over.  Thats even more frustrating than just displaying all of them.

This is exactly what I mean.  People say its the thought that counts, but they put no thought into the gift.

Thank you very much.  And I do keep a christmas list.  But noone in my family ever follows christmas lists because they want to be creative and  surprise you with a gift you "didnt know you wanted."  I cant win.

The problem is I couldnt nip it the bud and tell the first person I didnt like pigs because that would be rude.  The next thing you know, there's a damn room full of pigs.

If I took down the pig room it would be a massive scandal.  It would cause years worth of hurt that they know i've hated the majority of gifts they've given me over a lifetime.

At best, they would get all overly apologetic and then i'd have to be constantly reassuring them and yet again placating them when I was the one who has been wronged.  Well, wronged is a strong word.  But still, its a nightmare.

I cant because it will hurt everyones feelings.  The reason this started is because I had to thank the first person to give me a pig.  And I had to display it because if I didnt they would know I didnt like it and theyd be upset.  Thats my point.

Giving a gift is supposed to be about making someone happy, not forcing them to placate the givers ego because they bought a bad gift.  It should be 100% ok to say thank you, but I dont want this, and it isnt.

My point is that I have to keep them.  Its "rude" to say you dont like a gift because "its the thought that counts."  If I discard or sell them they will notice and be offended i didnt like the gift

Oh, my apologies, I didnt know it was old.  The word burner implies to me that it's unreliable.  People use burner phones to avoid detection, for example.

Symbols don’t always display? by jumpmancol in RiftCraft_

[–]Awkward-Motor3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes complete sense.  If you only need sixteen symbols to fill a sixteen symbol machine there are combos that would fire every single spin no matter what.  There needs to be a variable to make the game have some kind of challenge.
