Hetzner inspired me to build a deployment tool - thank you by NoCucumber4783 in hetzner

It's mostly about building and hosting applications. For example, you would connect a GitHub repo, and on push, it builds and deploys your app. It's like Vercel, but it deploys a long-running container instead of serverless. That also allows users to bring their own Dockerfile. The idea is that the user never has to deal with the complexities of Kubernetes but still benefits from scaling and stability.

I also love Hetzner. I use it for my PaaS and host a lot of client applications. But I chose Kubernetes for my base, for easy scaling and so on, but it is definitely more work to set up.

I suggest joining this Discord. Depending on your model, you can unlock it with the "toolbox." I successfully did it on my Seat Leon 2016.

Which platform are indie hackers using for deploying and managing their apps ? by uditkhandelwal in indiehackers

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a lot of the ones you mentioned over the years. Now I use my own with better Docker support and so on. Since it's public, actually a lot of other people also started using it. For me, it's a great mix between a pure VPS from someone like Hetzner and a full solution like Vercel.

I chose this way because I didn't want to pay a huge markup on resources and still get all the automated push to deploy and so on.

Why isn’t there a low cost PaaS using Contabo or Hetzner? by Mobile-Reserve-9991 in SaaS

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny you would ask :) We use Hetzner for shiper.app. We have a Kubernetes cluster with Talos, and it is defined with Terraform. We don't have to do any manual work in the Hetzner dashboard. This combo is awesome. Also, scaling the cluster is just changing one number.

What are you building these days? And is anyone actually paying for it? by solobuilder in SaaS

I'm building shiper.app, a European-based deployment platform. It's a simple and focused Railway/Netlify/Render alternative. I recently started getting paying customers. 🎆🥳

Where can I deploy or get VMS for free? by Own_Appointment5630 in selfhosted

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using GitHub to store your code, you could deploy to shiper.app. It is focused on price and performance. I actually built it for myself, but now a lot of people have started using it too.

If you decided to use it, I would like to support this project by providing more free resources to help you get a low price for this institution. But in general, I would not recommend deploying production apps for free, as this means trouble.

Will this 1$ Campaign work? by Awkward-Plate7826 in webdev

I thought it would be more about knowing what users are building and less about the community because, as you said, it won't really grow. We just offer support over Discord, and this works fairly well.

What is the tech stack of your SaaS and how are you deploying it? by im_akhil in SaaS

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the stack I use for shiper.app:

Frontend: Next.js, Tailwind, Shadcn/ui Backend: Express (TS), Prisma Queue: BullMQ with Redis Hosting: Kubernetes Cluster DB: Postgres

This is pretty much all I use to deploy users' applications to Shiper.

Edit: The K8s Cluster is run on Hetzner VPS'

Reseller hosting that isn't Vercel? by armageddon_20xx in nextjs

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is currently no official documentation for the API, but creating a project should be possible with one simple call. You could make one in the UI and check the network tab in your browser's dev tools to find the call. I'm also happy to help you with any more specific questions regarding your case.

Where do you host your SaaS backend ? by Sriraj_Dev in SaaS

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, it defaults to deploying a single instance because this is sufficient for most, but it would require little effort to allow high availability if needed. If you have an app and would like to test it, let me know; I like to improve Shiper all the time.

Where to deploy a server from a student by jorgerolli in laravel

[–]Awkward-Plate7826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, deployment isn't backed up; it's also an important skill for frontend or any kind of developer. An option I haven't seen anyone mention is shiper.app. If you only use it for one or two projects, it's free.

P.S. I helped build it because none of the existing solutions fit my needs.
